Put an end to popups!

But, yes, the jungle part of the continent should be given to CGN, with an FP down there it will be very efficient, since everything will be at either rank 2 or three...

You better hope that Trip did not see that BF. Maybe CGN have not scouted the whole map? We don't have a clue, and we don't want to give any teams any extra info. I'm sorry that i had to edit your post, but that sort of infomation should not be released outside of the private forum.

Both games are on the same map, remember.

Looking at the map we are screwed if we think we can get in close enough to land to not be seen the turn before.

GWT is tipped off about our surprise; we know that.

Our only hope of making landing is them not having enough units to cover the LZ once we approach it. Now, if they have a full turns noticce of our landing and with 9 move Ansar, I don't see how they would not be able to prevent our landing.

Our hope lies in the fact that they may not have a suffcient galley screenup around certain areas so that they can't se us comming the turn before.

Well, they know we are are out here. I suggest we send in the South fleet to make it look like we are scouting for a LZ in 2 turns (not the next turn, but the one after). We continue with our skirting of GWT's North for those turns with the plan of making it feasible to land on the 3rd turn; one turn after they "spot" our South Fleet. Hopefully they will have moved units toward the South and won't be able to recover them to the North in time to block our landing even though they may see us comming with a Galley Screen.

Combine that with CFC making their own landing I'm hoping to draw off enough to make a clear LZ.

The only other suggestion is to continue to GWT's East and try for a landing on the tundra tiles that are visable to the NW of their Capital.

Let's try the landing in 3 turns! Of it's blocked, we go further East and see what happens.

I say we land our Southern Fleet against GCA no matter what happens.

If we established an embassy and checked out a city or two....

Otherwise we don't even know whether killing those cities far to the north of their FP core will do anything at all beyond decrease our support costs.

I dont have a problem with this BUT it has to be timed to occur just before our landing. Again to hopefully draw the GWT forces south.

Just remember our goal is to try and get the FP, anything and everything else we try to do outside of that northern fleet needs to be timed and planned to mazimize the chances of an opening in the north.

I would suggest waiting one more turn before landing BF, just to be safe. By then GWT will hopefully be distracted enough. They have plenty of Galleys around, it's best to err on the side of caution, IMO...

Ok, here's "Plan B" Still not a lot of hope, but there's a chance to pull it off. It's an updated map I used. I determined that there's another coastal tile on the NE coastal tip. We spend one turn within their possible sight if they have a Galley correctly stationed...it's a crap shoot either way we go. I'm starting to think that the "amphibious assault ability" should be applied to more than just the Marine unit. Give it to other units as well, but have the attack strength cut in half for such assaults. I'm very positive other Civ's in the world made beach assaults well before the modern Marine. I think this unbalances the game where a Civ can literally block a landing of 100 troops with just a group of farmers!

Tired of ads?

I think we should also bring the last trailing Caravel in the Northern Fleet on the path it came from and have it pop in for a "peek" near our original LZ just before we enter into GWT's possible line of view at their NE corner as pictured above. We also do the same with our Southern Fleet. Hopefully these two actions, combined with CFC's landing will provide the distraction we need to get the majority landed.

It's not the case with C3C anymore

In C3C you can land over the workers, settlers, all form of artilleries, scouts and explorers !

I recently learned it and tested successfully !

Psst.....Just between you and I....there won't be a clear landing zone anywhere near where we want to be able to attack. We are just now on, more or less, a "scouting" mission. If a spot opens up for us to land, I'll be as surprised as a kid at Micheal Jackson's house who does not at least get to first base on a sleepover!

I see your point, HotE and Arrian (and others), but I wonder what else we could do with our troops. There is the chance of giving GWT another GL, but ATM all they can do with it is get Leo's, the Lighthouse (soon to be outdated), Oracle (already useless but for the culture) or an army. And we'd written Leo's off a while ago, from memory.

Not wasting troops sounds fine, but what more is there to do with them? If we can smash SOMEthing it might be the most productive thing our troops can do.

True, but I don't seriously think we have a great chance of getting that far, particularly seeing as we're landing in the north, if in fact we DO land.

And if we did through some magnificent event got that far, trashing cities to get as far as the FP only to have them rebuild the FP with a GL would be little different than attacking and never even threatening the FP city - except we would have killed a whole lot of GWTers!

So either they can't do that much with another GL, and as long as we maintain our tech lead and pre-building well enough we are OK, or they use their GL to rebuild an FP which we might not otherwise have touched anyway.

Now if we were still going straight for the FP I'd agree preventing them getting another GL is best, but it looks like this will be very very hard.

They get a great leader.

Suffering from ads?

They'd have to catch our tech lead first. We will have 4 or 5 turn techs until the end of the Medieval Era, with our present population and trade. Even not accounting for growth, we will be into the Industrial a dozen or more turns before they are. As long as we are on the ball with our pre-builds, we can lock them out of Hoover's, Women's Suffrage (should we want it) and CERTAINLY the ToE. Remember that CGN is a Scientific civ, so we should be able to enlist their help to leapfrog a tech into the Industrial as well. No such luck for GWT/GCA.

Hey, there's a cheering thought!

Not that I'd want to get too involved in millitary stuff but as far as MoI goes I'd expect that any unit lost will likely have to be re-built back home for defence or just tile blocking purposes.

I think our troops should return home and protect the coast (block it).

We may well want those troops - EVEN IF we cannot invade GWT until marines/tanks/etc. Reason being they could come for US. Coastal blocking is one thing they're good for, but consider this:

We have a major security risk to our west. CFC. They don't know what they're doing and they aren't real keen on listening to us (just my impression). Whaddya figure the odds are that they have a proper coastal wall up if/when GWT shows up with a massive invasion fleet? We came close to pulling that off against a really smart team!

I think there is something like a 50/50 shot that we will one day find ourselves confronted by a massive GWT invasion of our continent via CFC's lands. Way before marines. Probably before we get to infantry.

Therefore, I'd like all those knights (upgraded to cav) back home.

...

I think we've got an excellent chance of winning this game, due to our technological prowess and our large, powerful, productive empire. Especially if we get those worker pumps going and we pump up the pop. Take a big tech lead, add in productive cities and you get a shitload of superior troops to crush your enemies with.

What do we need to pull this off? TIME. The FP hit was a great idea, IMO, that just didn't work. It would have done a lot of damage with an acceptable potential cost. What we want now is to keep racing ahead in tech and to trigger our GA with wonders as planned, and explode into the industrial era. Rails, factories, etc. ToE, Hoover. In order to do this, we need to, um, survive until then (and of course manage our empire relatively well).

Arrian is right. CFC is dead in the water. However, that's yet another reason why we have to act now... if we don't, GWT will simply bowl them over. Then what? It's GWT even stronger than they are now plus a rebuilt GCA in CGN lands against us and us alone. What do we do then? Hold off with our army until GWT overwhelms us? Out-techs us? Builds the spaceship?
