	Hosting Indeo drivers Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Since they are no longer provided for free without a registration to driverguide, would it be possible to host these files here on Apolyton?

I can think of two people in just the last week who would have found these files useful.

If Apolyton is not wanting to host them, then I will give them to Cedric Greene and Civ Fanatics, so that they can, and I am sure that they will be willing to do so.

I have them on my hdrive, but I can't upload them to apolyton.

Sadly my old and antiquated vanilla Civ2 disc no longer functions. All I have left functioning is the CiC disc.

Are you sure you can't find them for free? It was only a few months ago I found updated drivers for use with newer versions of Windows. And Mark, I don't think those old ones work with the newers Windows anymore.

I see what you mean, obiwan. Those same drivers I found for free now are still the same, but seem to require a registration. Annoying.

It's a macro that self-extracts.

WinZip won't let me zip it up.

I could zip the constituent parts, but that will take some time.

Can you .rar it? Or if all else fails just change the extension to .zip or something, upload it, and then we just need to make sure there's an info screen somewhere with the link to download it that tells you to make sure you change the extension back to .exe

What I can do is break it into it's constituent parts, and then rezip the whole thing.

I take it you have file extensions of known file types hidden, right? Because that won't allow you to change extensions.

I think I did it properly, Markos. I submitted two links, one for each file.

I will want to edit the first link submitted, so that it matches the second, in saying that it is the version for Win 2k and Win 98.

Use the second link posted and the files are right there. If you use the original one you need to hunt. Also, if you used the original one yesterday and couldn't find them don't feel bad because neither could I.

Thanks for the confirmation, DrSpikey; I got lost in there for hours, it seemed , trying to find it from Mark's first link. And thanks to Mark for the "new" second link. Ben's files now are easy to find.

Like DrSpike, I just wanted to have a handy way to help the next soul who will ask about this problem. Thanks all.

Ben, I don't have that particular problem; never did. When I got XP, Civ2 was the first thing I loaded, and there was no problem. The old files on the cd were sufficent for me. For some reason, another Gatesian anomoly perhaps, some folk have the devil of a time mating Civ with XP, so your files are a great addition to the site.

Agreed, Ben. And thanks again for thinking of and getting this done. How many times this has come up and you are the first to take these extra steps.

But finding this thread weeks or months from now might moot that. Having it easily at hand in the Directory will always work.

The Indeo video codec by Ligos (sold by Intel to them, several years back) is also found in most codec packs, which is the more recommended way (at least my opinion) to get it, if needed.
