	Research Treaty with Angels Remove this text

Treaty of Rock-Paper-Scissors

Respective factions of Data Angels and Gaian Union, and their representatives which have met in Angel town of Rock-Paper-Scissors, have agreed to a mutual trade and research pact, in interests of deeper cooperation and friendship between their nations. Terms of the treaty are as following:

1) Both of the signatories agree to mutual cooperation in research.

2) Both of the signatories agree to immediately announce to the other signatorie which technologies they posses, technologies currently being developed as well estimated years of their completion and keep the other side updated whenever status changes ("status change" means an event when one side either: 1. unexpectedly achieves a tech, 2. acquires a tech by trade, 3. the turn time to completion of a tech changes nonlineary (not -1/turn).)

3) Both of the signatories agree to share their future plans for research and beelines.

4) Both of the signatories agree to mutually assist one another in research and conduct joint research projects.

5) Terms of this Treaty will be set in motion with signing of the treaty.

Angels agreed to this terms, after clearing up some things (thanks binTravkin! ). We need to vote about accepting it. I vote yes. The poll will run for three days.

I've noticed abilities of psychologist in me - when I read the 1st draft of the Treaty, I instantly noticed the 2nd rule!
It was just too hard to agree to..

You should also explain them, that probing goes to "unexpectedly achieving the tech" (it's the diplomatic of stealing.. )

Worst case we only lose a little information. We might as well trust them until they show stronger signs of betrayal. It's not in their interests to screw us this early anyway, when they could do so better later.

The rapidly increasing Angel database consists the following technologies:
Centauri Ecology, Industrial Base, Industrial Economics, Industrial Automation, Information Networks and Planetary Networks. Soon we expect to have Biogenetics and Progenitor Psych as well.

The idea behind Doc: Mobility is that Doc:Flex comes available after research is completed and it is traded with us, and we can then research Doc:Flex and traded it back to you while the Gaians follow their own idea of beeline.

What ideas does the Progress Department have?
And how comes a beeline must be decided now? Normally this turn the Gaians switch to Biogenetics for they have only now received Industrial Automation.

I notice that the Gaians fail to tell us when their current research is completed as well.

Grumpy again, eh. First part suggests that tehy plan to coop to research Doctrine: Flexibility, second part - they obviously didn't know we are getting Biogenetics this very turn- so this is a misunderstanding - hopefully I cheked. Third part - well they are insultive again. They accuse us of not telling anything -while we had to wait this for a day. I explained to GeoModder that I haven't seen the turn yet when I replied to him. Hopefuly he will understand. I don't have an opinion about their suggestion that we coop to research flexiblity - Angels obviously want to infiltrate others, problem is, we don't know how many bases they ahve on the coast, but it is likely we won't be infiltrated soon.

Net Warrior is nowhere to be seen. And candidates? Plus, Ouro, try to do your job as ambassador - when my college starts someone should fill me in. Plus, Angels were known for such atitutude in last game, when most of their team belonged to Pirates, I guess. There was even one ugly incident with particulary nasty PM from a certain pirate, but I don't think he is in this ACDG. Drogue can fill you in. Let's just tolerate them and watch our backs. Currently we both need each other to beat Morgans.

The message seems pretty tame to me on second reading of our treaty. We are supposed to tell them when we will finish techs. We didn't I guess? Has this treaty now been ratified?

Also, it seems they don't have beeline plans, which isn't too surprising for Angels since they will be focusing on their probes (which is a little silly considering they are also a strong builder faction).

Ouro, would you send them info according to the treaty, but not all at once. Let them respond and send some of their own info. We do need to know when they are going to finish Flex.

Finally, don't they seem to be lacking a tech or two? Their research has been slow, considering how close to IA they are from the start. Does this mean they ran Planned for awhile? I don't know, but they should have one more tech than that I think.

We told them, as they did. The treaty is on for around four days now. They will finish Progenitor Psych in 1-2 days. About energy, could be that they done sth strange, or they got a lousy energy poor starting site as we did. I sent them info about our techs and estimated completion data, as they did - according to that we don't have anything else to trade. Ouro, send them message we are researching Mobility.

Once, again we did exchange lists of technologies. Also, they might find intrusive if you directly ask if they ran planned economy - not mentioning showing that we are too lazy to look at earlier turns and check if they were running planned. They already insulted us, and this would mean justificaiton for their insults.

I agree with you both. It's best to be friendly at all times, even going out of our way to maintain a straight face if they try to provoke us. We have the upper hand on them, and they will soon realize it I think, which may have consequences on how well their actions speak for them. Our deal for IA was pretty good. If only it had come 10 turns earlier we'd have an SP in the bag by now.

Question on tech trades: They were kind to give us IA, not even knowing how many turns till we could give them Biogenetics. It turned out to be zero, which is good for them. However, if we get Mobility, should we hold it until they are about to finish research? I know that sounds mean, but it could be phrased as: "Tech Trades are acceptable, or tech loans for 1 turn with ensuing trade the following turn" Something to think about as we start accelerating our research/probe actions.

It get tricky fast. Try to figure in how long it will take us to set up new bases, and add their lab points as well. Unfortunately, there's little chance of probing anyone but Yang for at least a decade, so our research rates won't be changing beyond our base labs for awhile....

Of course, trying to figure in the new bases means we'd better plan where they are to go and use our formers to make it a fast growth.
