Well Sergeant Pepper - that's the advertising slogan for your doctoring brother's fizzy pop-based concoction.

I can't imagine that you'd have any embarrassing photos of me, because my lack of knowledge of pyrotechnics cannot be captured by camera alone, and I didn't do anything else that was daft. Just sat and drank quite solidly throughout the evening.
Mind you, I am intrigued as to what you call embarrassing, so if you'd care to PM me one of the aforementioned pictures then I would be aware of exactly how much I am in your debt as far as blackmail is concerned.

Cinque Terre requires a minimum of two days.

Hmm, you mean putting the Grand Old Men to their separate seed and the newer people to another one? I think that that *might* attract more new players. I'm not sure what it'd do to game balance.

We either have 2 groups of 4 both with 2 seeds (with 8 players like usual) with top 2 from each group going through. We could play each player twice.

Or we could just play normally and if the seeds all happen to get to the semis 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3. Otherwise 1 plays non-seed (instead of 4), or lowest placed non-seed if 2 get through.

We are having a tough time trying to figure things out on what we want to do and for how long. The family obligations are crimping our planning. We are guessing that we will leave the Cinque Terra late on the day after we stay there, and drive late into the night back to Germany. This should be a fun trip.

I said enough games, not enough people. Perhaps championships would have been clearer.

One possible way would be to have 2 group of equal size (and play each player twice), with 2 seeds in each. Top 2 from each group go through, and for semi final pit the lowest placed non-seed or lowest seed (whichever is relevant) against the highest seed that progressed.

If we do the usual with 7-9 players I think it makes sense to set up the semis according to seeds, rather than according the rankings in the prelims. The rankings would still determine matchups if more than 1 non-seed gets through. Again the lowest placed non-seed or lowest seed (whichever is relevant) would play against the highest seed that progressed.

Just a thought.
