Iraqi Insurgency Crisis scenario Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Hello, I'm currently at loggerheads on creating an scenario about the current Iraqi insurgency. Since its a totally new design and game there are no units which are the new IGC police and national guards. Plus, the insurgency units are completely different as well from any other scenario.

I need some help on Iraqi and coalition units in general. But I want them small, I don't like the units to be the size of say Nemo or Alex the magnificent.

Heres a picture of what the Iraqi police look like.

National Guard

Mahdi Army

Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I will accredit the person who helped me when I submit my scenario.

oh no, but I'll check now.

Is there any collection of smaller sized units available at all?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "small" units, but I had a go at them anyway.

Man, really....my hat goes off to your skills, they're bloody excellent!!!!!

is there any where they seem to be on guard?

Any smaller coalition allied units? Like where they have shields where it shows their nationality and contribution?

Well what I meant is that I didn't want the Units to be grossly exagerrated like say Red Front etc. I want the units to be somewhat in correlation in size of the cities they 'live' in.

Those units are roughly the same size as the infantry Alex Mor drew for Red Front. If you want 'em to be consistent with the size of the cities then we're talking microscopic units

You may take a look at "Abu Sayyaf" scenario by JAPR (available at the Spanish Civilization Site, section Bestonet -> XX Century, of course ). There are interesting ideas, like hostages, civilians, etc.

It seems this scenario is going to be controversial...

I wouldn't worry if I were you, most of them didn't even get issued with desert DPM kit, or boots for that matter... they were all buying their own from surplus stores What a great supply system we have in the army, thank god I'm joining the navy

Nice units btw.

Sounds like the same problem the Yanks had in the first war. Most of them in Saudi (VII Corps especially, which had been deployed speedily from Germany) weren't issued desert BDUs until after the cease fire... and the ones that did were using the old six-colour desert pattern, which had been phased out BEFORE the war (meaning that the famous uniform used by the US during Operation DS was already obsolete ) They were supposed to be wearing the tricolour desert pattern which you see in Iraqi Freedom and Mogadshu. (By 1993, they had completely made the transition, 2 years too late it seems.)

But I guess when you're talking about military machines the size of the UK's and the US, these things happen, especially with the budget cuts recently.

You're joining the RN? Well, best of British luck... but hope you know that RN had highest casualty rate of any service during the Falkands....

But don't worry, all RN does now is patrol the Gulf... although on the other hand, you could get captured by the Iranians like those poor guys.

Better stop cursing you now.

Army logistics, huh? It's a shame civ can't replicate it, though we'd probably never get anything done with all the bureaucracy

All of the RN casualties were from the surface fleet, I'm going in for submarines, but that probably means I need my head examined

Subs? You certainly need some examining all right.

And funny thing is, its quite safe. Tragalfars are the best in the world, and unless the reactor springs a leak, should be quite safe...

(Last major sub accident was HMS Alliance in 1971)

Actually, a goal oriented event file could replicate logistics in Civ. Sort of like: Take this point, get info on another. A well thought out event file could create different options for the player.

Ideas:

Unit Killed - Saddam -> receive more troops from coalition, subtract money from insurgent civ.

Unit Killed - Secret Iranian Intelligence -> Iran attacks coalition or vice versa.

Tech Acquired - Open Borders -> Insurgent units pop up

Tech Acquired (Random) - UN Oil for Food Scandal, Prison Abuse Scandal -> more/less money for Coalition units

In order to make the scenario challenging you would have to make the coalition limited, either in unit production (translating from public support I guess) or in limited units from events. Also, I wouldn't limit yourself to just recent events. Throw in some interesting and random stuff so the game doesn't always play out the same.

Don't worry, I am, I'm just puzzled to what areas the insurgents control, I mean, I've looked around on the net and googled, and can't get a clear picture of the scale of insurgent held areas.

Oh yeah, does anyone have like an Oil Field Unit available? I want to have this as a trigger event in when they get attacked, Iraqi efforts at reconstruction are severly hampered. Engineer units is a tricky one, has anyone any ideas on how this unit may look like?

Is ther any like units which have them standing on Guard, because I want to show the polar opposite principles of the US and UK peacekeeping efforts, the UK military had abandoned its heavy gear and took a much more lighter role, e.g wore red caps not helmets.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Yep, that would be it. They're not huge, but they are representational. If you're looking for something bigger, or just different, try the Red Front files. The files contain a refinery and I think a factory. Also, look at Curt Siblings scenarios.
