So, I was playing that @@!(#)^!)^ Zulu game, and decided to reload to the previous auto sav, because I let one of my cities revolt twice, and my gouverment collapsed. The last turn before that, I moved my diplo at a specific position.
I reloaded - and OK, no revolts, not even the first turn of the revolt in that city (Ummaka it was I think).
I didn't enbd the turn, and decided to reload again the earlier autosave.
To my suprise, the earlier autosave was the turn with all my cities revolting; the current autosave was the autosave from before several turns WITH MY DIPLO STANDING IN POSITION OF THE LAST TURN.
On the revolt sav, my diplo does not exist

OK. That's it. Bye, back to the game.

Er, Heresson.
You really shouldn't have posted that, because you're not allowed to reload in competition games. By saying that you reloaded, you've invalidated your game, and, because you've seen the map, you've invalidated all future games too. If you've still got a save after your government collapsed, then you could submit that, but by reloading, you're not allowed to submit any other games.

Sorry.

I didn't know You can't reload....
Must have missed that.
Why?
Wonders OK, but reloads? Dumb.
Either I should use one of my old old savs, or start a new game?
Bueh.

There is also no way of checking the save files submitted to the competition, so if you were exceedingly unscrupulous then you could keep reloading your saves until you got exactly the game you wanted. But you'd only have yourself to answer to.

Reloading saves are only allowed in one circumstance: if you are playing a OCC then you must save before you open any hut. If the hut contains an advanced tribe then you must reload until you get something else. If it is anything else, then you just have to live with it, even if it means that your only exploring unit is killed by barbs.

No, that's only if you're playing a One City Challenge. Obviously the OCC finishes if you have a second city, so if you find one in a hut, then you are allowed to go back to the save before you opened the hut and try again until you get something that is not an advanced tribe.

Oh, so that's OCC. Then, it's obvious, of course. I 've played a one city game. In the end, the vikings "subverted" my city, though it had a palace in it. I was enraged.

I THINK I've seen a thread about something like that...
or a discussion at least.
It was a very unpleasant thing, but I reloaded, found that spy and destroyed. I was so angry that I decided I will cease to play one city only and started capturing their cities

Heresson,

What version of the game are you playing; are the patches applied??

Spies don't get a bribe option if the city has a Palace. Something else seems to be afoot here. Did your city disappear or did it change sides??

No patches, Civ2 FW
My city didn't disappear or change sides.
It was my ONLY city. It could not change sides

Theorethically I should have savs of this game, but I've got three computers here and I don't know on which I have played (it probably wasn't the newest one, but am not sure), on each I have lots of savs
I'd have to check. I don't remember which civ I've played.
I just remembers that the Vikings were involsved. But now I'm not even sure if it was me that played them, or was they the civ that bribed my capital city.

rah,

Yup, that did happen. What also happened is that they (he,she,it) could not provide a .sav and after numerous fruitless requests from many folk that a save be shared, the thread died.

This one, I think, needs more than a vague claim. Looking at a save, one could determine if the Palace city was bribed or not, just as seeing a "Bigfoot" at a news conference would be more definitive than 'fuzzy pictures'.

And re-loading, even if "enraged", is still a no-no.

If it did not change sides, why do you think it was bribed??

Then again, I do not play FW; so maybe that is part of that game.

I thought You suggest that perhaps there was no palace in the city due to taking it by an enemy some time earlier.
If You did not think of that, how do You imagine bribing/subverting city WITHOUT taking it?

Now why would anyone think there was no Palace since you said, in the first mention of this "problem", that the city had a Palace??

Maybe it is a language thing, and if that is the case, it is regretable that understanding comes with such difficulty. But, it seems you are more interested in sticking out your tongue than figuring this thing out. A serious person would not act this way.

Good luck with your rage.

I have a feeling this may be the problem. I have experienced a number of things that "shouldn't happen" when playing FW - particularly connected with the diplomacy. I believe that FW has some pernicious bugs.

I now play 2.42 rather than FW.

Oh, this guy that complained about similar thing once, he may have been me... I think I complained about it before.

I remember that a really long time ago, it could have even been civ 1 actually (and I did mention that too once), I caught a barbarian leader between my city and my unit. And he sabotaged a building in my city!
Well, barbarian leaders are diplos after all...
