Monarch, AU mod
I didn't work with suicide galleys, i went for navigation and then rushbuild.
This is gonna be a boring report
current situation: no contacts with other civilizations
Main objective: Develop existing cities
Sub objective: make smaller cities between the existing to generate culture
Sub objective: chart and colonise smaller island at the northeast
Sub objective: snap wonders of the 'peaceful path' before other continent does.
Sub objective: gain contacts with other continent
Start at 570 AD, only important reports are written
for all cities: temple, lib, market, cath and uni.
some cities also courthouse.
640 AD
Beijing builds Forbidden palace
780 AD
Salamanca builds Sun Tzu, I'm researching banking, Sistine in 13
910 AD
democracy + anarchy
940 AD
Sistine in Bitter Lake
1050 AD
Iroquis builds leonardo
i'm building shakespeare, smith and copernicus
navigation in 2 turns
wonder this will become a cascade?
1070 AD
rushed two caravels in most west and most east city
1110 AD
Contact with iroquis, Spain and germans, traded for others: now contact with all!
AI report:
Ottomans: 5 Cities, war with spain
Spain: 5 cities, war with Ottomans
Germans, Arabs and Iroquis are somewhat equal
Iroquis is closest rival in score (almost half) and culture (also almost half)
Tech lead: peacefull branch Iroquis has education, nothing more, they also have at least gunpowder.
Wonders in progress: only iroquis is building Knights Templar
arabs and german in feudalism, others in republic

Picking up after DAR III....
450AD: A suicide galley spots borders on the onther land mass, but can't make contact. It's the Ottomans.
460AD: Dammit! I sunk!
500AD: Great Wall in Salamanca. Damn, I was 1 turn from it.
510AD: Knights Templar in Delhi.
540AD: Thelogy done, Education in 10.
580AD: Two horsemen and a swordmen show on the chinese border. Smells like sneak attack...
620AD: Tsingtao taken with War Elephants and AC. 1 settler captured
680AD: Tinstein Captured.
710AD: Music Theory + SGL!!!!! I use him to rush Sun Tzu in Delhi.
Took Canton
790AD: Captured Beijing! Peace for Chinan, Hangchow and Chengdu.
I met the Arabs during the china war, forgot to note it. I'm 3+ techs in front of them (and probably the whole other continent... I'm pretty surprised.
850AD: My suicide galley almost makes it to the other side. There has been a recent war between Iroquois and Ottomans in which Ottomans have been crushed. Galley meets the Iroquois instead of the Ottomans
860AD: Iroquois are building Leo's Workshop. Galley officially makes it to the other side... Invention done, Gunpowder in 7
940AD: War between Iroquois and Ottomans has stopped.
990AD: Astronomy done, going for banking
1020AD: I meet Germany. I thought they were advanced, but they don't have currency yet.
JSB done in Calcutta.
1030AD: Sistine done in Bombay: Goodbye happiness problems!!!
The Iroquois are one warmongering bunch... Seville is Iroquois too!
I meet Spain. They don't have Maths, Philo and Literature, yet they don't want to trade for Monarchy...
1060AD: I attack a stack of 3 chinese settlers. It was too tempting to pass up
1070AD: Captured Shangai and Xinjian
1090AD: Captured Macao and Shantung, capital jumpted to Kaifeng, on the small jungle island. Peace for 2 small cities. The Chinese are only left with Kaifeng, a small city in the jungle...
1110AD: Starting Democracy, ready in 8
Leo's Workshop in Salamanca
1130AD: I trade for the last contact. I'm the real tech leader! I'm 6 techs in front of the Iroquois (can trade Theology). Free wonders that is...

In 550AD, which is the closest save I have from the end of this DAR, I have 6950 and my closest leader is China with 2585.
In 900AD, I have 13418, while my closest leader, the Iroquois have 7019. Mind you, I am in the middle of my chinese conquest, and will priorize cultural builds again once I am not threatened anymore...
And in my last save, 1160AD, I have 20764, while the Iroquois have 11821.

If you want a slow tech pace, no tech trading is most preferable.

I apologize for the lengthy delay in follow-up posts on this game. Between travel for work and some relatives coming in from out of town, the past couple of weeks have been pretty dismal for playing or reporting.
Reminder: playing AU Mod, Emp level. This post is the continuation of my post from DAR 2. There is no DAR 3 post for me, since I never bothered to explore or circumnavigate the Persian section of the continent. (I saw it as a waste of time. I had no interest in a northern military campaign, and preferred to suicide my galleys than waste their time mapping areas I wasn't going to be visiting any time soon.) Thus, I met all other civs before knowing the exact layout of the north-eastern section of the continent.
At the close of DAR 2, it was 1100BC and I had 13 towns, with plans to seize the rest of the western spur of the continent progressing nicely. I've been expanding pretty well, but I've got a pathetically weak mil.
By 850BC, I've founded 2 more towns in the western lands, and feeling pretty good that I'll take all that area.
800BC: China declares war on me and launch a warrior sneak attack on Bangalore, which is narrowly defeated by my lone warrior.
775BC: Rush several defenders, as I see a nasty looking line of swordsmen moving towards Kolhapur.
710BC: Town of Ganges is founded out west; successfully defend two attacks on Kolhapur; manage to successfully counterattack a couple of Chinese units, but I'm still way too weak to fight a long war with these guys.
690BC: First to complete Philosophy, and select Republic as my free tech. Will change once I can end this war. Further unsuccessful attacks on Kolhapur.
650BC: Finally make peace with Mao, and even get him to pay me 2 gold. This clash with China is not over by a long shot, however. Mao will be dealt with, in time.
630BC: Begin switch to republic.
610BC: Puce, last of the western cities, is founded.
490BC: It was only a matter of time, but finally disease starts hitting Calcutta (in the eastern jungle, near the dyes). I'll have to tough it out for now, as my workers are busy elsewhere.
450BC: Trade Republic to Persia for Map Making, Polytheism and all 57 gold.
210BC: The SS Hopeless (my first suicide galley) departs from New Delhi; heading west, I expect that it will never return. (It doesn't.)
190BC: Enter the middle ages (never bothered to research monarchy). Generating 51 culture/ turn, with a total of 1485.
10AD: Recognizing that I was militarily weak, yet unwilling to sacrifice my cultural progress, I complete SoZ. This should give me, eventually, enough strength to at least deter future wars.
70AD: The SS Hopeless sinks, while the SS Futility pokes around the island to the northwest.
250AD: Complete Feudalism and get my first SGL. I take that as a very good sign, as I know I've got the tech lead. Will probably use it for either Sistine's or Sun Tzu's, depending on what my rivals research.
280AD: Trade Feudalism to the Persians for Engineering and 29 gold. Then traded both Feudalism and Engineering to China for Monarchy, 80 gold and 4 gpt. (Rationale: China had the Great Library, so I had no choice but to trade them these two techs and get what I could for them.)
320AD: Oh happy day. The SS Doomed (third suicide galley) reaches the lands of the Arabs, allowing me to make contact. At the end of the turn, it sinks just off their coast. (This will end up being the last galley I build.) The Arabs have neither Construction nor Republic, but they have nothing worth trading for either.
360AD: Finally use my SGL on Sun Tzu's, since the Chinese were going to get it before me. Since they don't have Theology, they'll end up wasting it on something worthless.
440AD: With a good prebuild going for Sistine's, I decide to trade Theology to China to eventually eliminate the value they get from the GL. Get 126 gold and 13 gpt.
490AD: Trade Education to the Chinese for Invention, 36 gold and 3 gpt. That renders the GL useless.
580AD: Total culture: 7712 culture/ turn: 159
590AD: I've been building pretty steadily, and figure it's time to both trigger my GA and settle an old score with the Chinese. Time to prepare for war! D-Day is 10 turns away.
620AD: Complete research on Printing Press. I trade the Arabs Engineering and Contacts with China and Persia for contact with all other civs, as well as 75 gold and 15 gpt. My rivals stack up as follows:
Spain: complete barbarians. Don't even have Literature yet;
Germany and Ottomans: In the very early Middle Ages, lacking Monotheism and Feudalism; and
Iroquois: Lots of cash, but lacks Theo, Chivalry and Invention.
I do the traditional "trade contacts with everyone" and reap a nice profit: I basically bankrupt all my rivals and end up with about 800 gold and about 42 gpt. With a major war coming, this should come in very handy.
(Apologies for the lack of a screen shot. Didn't think about it until a good 15 turns or so later.) Overall, I feel like I'm in good shape. I'm going to eliminate Mao (or at least drive China off this continent), take all their cities, and then do another round of city founding to make up for the terrible city spacing the AI does.
