Hmmm...Space, eh?

I was expecting to just make an earth map, but this could be interesting!
The earth will only be 50% inhabitable anyway,
so some city space may be may available for Moon real estate.

Obviously the UFA or Eternal Reich won't be willing to share the place!

That said, I may need so help from any ToT multimap people (Tech!) to implement this.

I would assume tranport point to another map can be built like airbases, after a certain advance has been gained...
I will have to outline a bunch of space units too.

And should all the civs be allowed to get there?
I cannot see the scruffy Jihad Coalition getting there...

These are all things I will have to look at -
This could be a long term development - About two weeks! (j/K)

Well, looks like ToT then - But worry not, if I get the time, I might make a MGE 'light verson' too!

Now far be it for me to strike down an inovative idea like combining earth space and moon in single game map. I'm a little concerend though that it just might not be possible using the Civ II format.

My advice would to either make it a strictly moon based scenario or an earth based scenario.

What I was thinking about is a 4-gigamap sized earth

That would be interesting... and large. But then, the city limit will greatly hinder how much you can fill in.

But it will probably mean that your cities will not be as ICS'd as they are now, especially in Europe.

Increase Your PM Length

If multimaps are used, it would have to be limited to the Earth and moon.

Once reached, the moon would be covered in very lucrative minerals.
This will mean a race to battle for the limited amount of rare material.
The trade from such will affect your battle on earth very much.
Also, the earth will be covered in wasteland, limiting city expansion.
The moon too, will have limited areas to build on.

What I need now is ideas to fill those 20 extra unit slots.

And maybe some units from Mr fairline or Mr Panse?

Well Curt, whatever format for the game you choose I'm sure it will both rock and kick ass. As for the flags, to be honest I like the old Eternal Reich flag better, the new tri bar flag looks plain by comparrison.

In anycase, it will be easier to judge when I have all the flags out together.

@Sarsstock:
No sweat man, I just wanted to go for something more simple.
You know I am wanting to make the Eternal Reich kind of similar to Kobra Command from GI Joe.
Hence their masked and red-goggled uniforms!

I wonder if there is a more modern or flashy iconic design for these future Germans?

Any ideas?

I have bad news on the moon front!

I may have to restrict the game to an Earth map, as limitations
on graphics and improvements made the idea unfeasible!

Damn!

I will concentrate on making the moon landing a game issue nonetheless.

But, Jim:
May I ask you to continue with the Self-propelled
guns and perhaps some armour for the UFA and AUSCOM?

The choice of look is up to you, perhaps mutated versions
of the tanks the US and Oz used in the 1980s?

Your Leopards really rocked, and are in the game, if you allow it.

More MBTS in that style are much appreciated!

PS
No rush for them, all in your on pace, sir!

What limitations are those? You'll have to forgive me if this seems like a stupid question, as my knowledge of ToT is slightly limited (it's been a while since I played it).

@Jim!
Those rock very much!
Definitely be adding these in where needed!

The reich aircraft slots are all full, but I will update you
on what else I need when I get these MBTs in the file!

Great work man!

@Paul:
The fact that earth bound cities and improvements would
look somewhat odd on the moon was main issue.

I realised a moon scenario would have to be graphically focused and designed to be dedicated as such.

Perhaps a new use for a second map might be possible.

Maybe a tactical area - rich in minerals, that the enemy factions can fight over...

I will think over the possibilities...

Curt, you get points just for trying to such a moon/earth scenario. But allas, the Civ II engine just can't handle it.

In any case, I'd love to see a Vendetta Moon scenario some day in the future. Where Australians and Africans can shoot it out in the Sea of Tranquility.

I'm almost finished reproducing the high res versions of the flags. I only have the Australian flag left to render. Whats taking so long is finding the appropriate eagle to stick on the flag.

I am considering a moon scenario as a seperate entity, perhaps a project for the future.

What I might do for this scenario is have the 2nd map being a small island, within an ocean.
The jump point to this place would be somewhere on the earth map.
The island will be dotted in a super-valuable mineral,
and the owner of the island will become the richest superpower.

This is doable, and also all civs can get involved.

Sarsstock:
You are going to kick my ass for this, but I have made a
few minor changes to the flags while tweaking graphics.

Hope this does not throw things up in the air too much.

Many thanks for your efforts!

I thought it was possible to have different city styles for different maps?

Even if it isn't, I suppose you could have a seperate city style that is triggered when a civ discovers the prerequisite tech for travel to the moon. City improvements would, I suppose, have to be left to the player's imagination (although it's not too hard to assume the existence of things like libraries and city defences on the moon, really. The naval improvements would, of course, be entirely moot in this regard).

Sorry to keep harping on about this, but I think it's an idea that really warrants implementation. I mean, with the Earth devastated by war there's likely to be at least some desire to move elsewhere, surely?

I've just had an idea: How about a second map, basically an inversion of the normal map, with the seabed as land and normal dry land as "sea"? This could be doable, as seen in the Midgard scenario for ToT.

I too would love to try this idea, but it needs a dedicated scen to make it work properly...

The main problem stems from the fact that the city styles are all used up by the civs.
The civs each have a set city style, and changing it for the
moon would make that change happen on Earth too.

I like the seabed idea, but it would involve making a whole
gang of specialised units; and now the slots are all mostly used...

I think the 'paradise island' is the best way to represent that new start that the civs can fight over...

Sadly - Even ToT has it's limitations...

But I will make the most of what I can use, on that you can trust me!
