The Arabic History Channel ... the history of the faithful, since 1200!
The valiant defenders defeated, all that was left was a last push against the barbarians near New Basra who had razed one town already. Unfortunately, although the odds were in the favor of the valiant Arabian forces, the Russian barbarians and their elite spearmen held strong and defeated both attacks.
Cavalry outside Rostov crushed two Russian spearmen in retaliation, and captured a worker near Moscow, who will be pressed into road building.
Yakutsk fell after forcing one modern cavalry into retreat by the followup attack of an ancient cavalry, who killed the lone defending warrior without taking any damage.
On the north front, Tver fell with no shots fired, as did a worker outside, who will be pressed into service as yet another road builder. A warrior outside was nearly tripped over by the cavalry on the way in. Another warrior, in a large group of warriors, was selectively destroyed by a patrolling cavalryman outside Hama.
1925 saw some action, but mostly it saw behind-the-scenes transporting military forces into the right positions for future action. Will 1926 see the crucial action? Only time will tell ...

1926: The Year of Novgorod...
1926 saw a great battle outside the city of Novgorod, with many cavalry and spearmen meeting in battle:
A 4/4 veteran cavalry fought a 4/4 spearman and won, earning a medal and a promotion to 4/5... also missed by an archer during that attack.
A 4/4 cavalry lost to a 4/4 spearman (?), leaving a measly 1hp on that spearman.
A 5/5 veteran Ancient Cavalry beat a 4/4 spearman, with 4/5 hp remaining.
A 4/4 veteran Cavalry beat a 3/3 spearman, earning a promotion to Elite and 3/5 remaining.
A 4/4 veteran Cavalry beat a 3/3 spearman, with only one hp lost.
A 4/4 veteran Cavalry beat a 4/4 archer, with no hp lost.
The Battle of Moscow was surprisingly short. A 4/4 cavalry conquered the lone warrior defending the Russian capital, with a well-earned promotion in the mix for the now 4/5 cavalry and capturing the great library ...
A 4/4 cavalry defeated a 3/3 warrior on the way to Moscow, without losing a hp.
Another 4/4 cavalry repeated the feat, losing no hp killing a 3/3 warrior.
Near Yakutsk, a worker was captured by a cavalry.
Yaroslavl and Murmansk were captured by cavalry with no fight.
A 5/5 cavalry provided beat a 3/3 warrior near Emar, 4/5 left.
Near Arkhangelsk:
- a 3/3 longbowman beat a 3/3 spearman, and got a promotion, 4/4.
- a 4/5 ansar warrior beat a 3/3 spearman, 2/5 remaining
- a 4/4 ansar warrior beat a 3/3 spearman, 1/4 remaining
And such ended the year 1926, with one massive battle over Novgorod, another threatening outside Arkhangelsk, and the capital of Mother Russia captured by the brave Arab faithful.

The battle near New Fustat, between a 4/4 ansar warrior and a 4/4 spearman, ended with a 2/4 ansar warrior dancing around on the spearman's shield. Probably not a good idea given the 2 spearman and 1 warrior standing right next to him
The newly created Army of Ummar was able to clean up after the battle of Arkhangelsk, defeating the 3/3 warrior and the 1/4 spearman without losing a point.
The Battle Of Orenburg
... consisted of a 3/5 cavalry killing a 4/4 archer, and then a 4/4 cavalry taking the city, and destroying the Russian empire.
Well played, Grandpa, you just never had the resources to counter me (particularly the iron, iron in this game was weird)... you did more damage than I thought you would. Attacking with spearman stacks
(Although you can ask Akulla about my attempt to do the same thing, in our Rome game. 30+ of the macedonian UU - 3/3 - against a roman city with /4 and /5 defenders. Total failure, didn't kill a unit.
Bah. )
To wittlich.
