I guess shoes is a bit of an exception - I tend to buy good ones. Good as in durable. My latest pair of jogging shoes is extreme - I bought them over two years ago, and only now are they starting to show signs of falling apart, after having been used practically daily since then, except a few months in the winter of 2002-2003. Spent something like $60 on them.

Right, it's a quality issue - or a quality assurance issue to be more precise. That's why it's great to buy the "overflows," they have the quality and not the price.

I tend to spend lots of money on dressy clothes because they last for YEARS. Plus the style stays the same so you can wear the same thing for a long time. But it's the casual stuff that is hard to pick out because the styles change so often.

That's where women come in handy cause they can help you pick out the stuff with you instead of you being all, "duhhhh what should I buy with this???"

I probably spent 100 bucks in the span of 5 years on clothing for myself (discounting of course the inevitible gifts from the parental units). But now that I'm in the real world. ...

I couldn't think of anything worse than shopping with women. They spend all day feeling and touching things, trying things on while the bloke knows that inevitably they will return to the first thing they tried on. And then that's it, another chunk of a man's life needlessly squandered...

totally missed this, but sorry - that's a bit of parroting if anything at all

When you start comparisons with your higher end group actually in the high end - quality definitely becomes a concrete factor. We're not talking about the same fabrics, or fabrication. We're not either talking about the same functional design or quality control

Furthermore, the more costly fashion brands generally have nothing to do with sweatshops or cheap Chinese labour. If you're thinking something more general like GAP, fine - but the actual upper brands and creams of quality are of Italian make, of German, of Dutch. In between - the labour starts to sink somewhat to your example - ie.) Turkish, Morrocan, etc; but all still in comparably superior quality. Hey, even a lot of Gap products are intrinsically superior to bare pricing, same design product

Granted - additional price paid is usually nearer to exponential the additional quality received, and there are plenty of market 'reputable' lines playing nothing more than niche rip off artist. In the end, it's pretty simple. Do you want a bombshell closet full of deteriorating products at 50$ - a manageable and simple closet half full of lasting, fully functional and date worthy products at $500 - or a lean rack of the latest, impeccably produced Eurotwat trend at $5000?

Some of us go for an average combination of the three

IIRC, it's a French-Canadian Woman.

I spent 18 years pretending to be straight, grew up in a society with heterosexual ideals, and I have eyes...I know what an attractive woman looks like.

I'm sure 99% of men know what an attractive man looks like, too. Most won't admit it.
