Where to put our next city? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

The original plan was to build a city on the RED tile. However, a city on the blue tile may make more sense in the coming invasion, and it may be a better long term city location.

However, BLUE would be somewhat out of synch with our 3-tile building style, and would not share tiles as easily with other cities.

Please vote for your selection or include a better location for our next city.

Blue

More sugar
More river
No aquaduct needed
Has one hill and one Mountain where red has only mountain
Red overlaps other cities tiles too much; we need to plan for better growth.

Blue. Some overlap is fine, and usually a good way to go, but makes efficient distribution of tiles hell - just look at Hypnos/Poly/Poseidon. A nightmare, and it will only get worse. We can afford to have a bit of space here and there. Plus it's generally nicer.

Blue. we get to use another 2 bonus grasslands as soon as the new town is settled, and we get a sugar.

And CDG can't hit us from Minnesota (admittedly they don't have horsmen, so that won't be a problem...)

Full PM-box? Change here!

A no-brainer : Blue!
Two more sugar, one of which is outright stolen from Minnesota.
A free aquaduct.

In either place it would need garisoned due to being on the border.

I also note that two future cities of ours built by CFC would fit very well into a plan where we build on the blue site.

And as Consul, should I deem the MoI's order to not be the best one, I will take that recommendation and bury it in the foundations of the city when it is founded.... where I think is best.

Here is where I propose we build.

It will be far less corrupt than the two locations Togas proposes. We will actually be able to settle it sooner, and connect it sooner to our supply roads. We will gain 3 turns of additional unit support with it. It will produce much more gold than the other locations in the immediate future. Togas Blue is a location we definately need to settle, but just not now.

That's a good idea, GK, and I guess we need not worry about tiles for that city for a time either, with all those wines. My only negatives to this position - this decreases the fog of war where camps can spawn, meaning the likelihood of less gold and promotions. Also it means the roads we have started building near the blue position will be wasted turns.

A shame this was not brought up earlier, GK, but I think, with the poll result and the work already put in (plus with the upcoming war making the blue site a convenient location) we should build on the blue next, and as soon as possible after that on this new site.

Lets consider calling GK's site the Yellow site and maybe we should rapidly repoll this.

He makes a dam good point and we sure could use three extra turns of unit support right now.

I understand the downside of lost worker turns but they wont all be lost forever, we will eventually build a blue site, so only the road under the city will be wasted turns.

Something to think about.

Do not forget that if we settle on the "GK" site, we will knock down all the other cities (except Hypnos (i think) and PA) down the OCN rank, so we will lose money over all, and that we will lose shields in barracks cities.

just a caveat I still prefer the blue site since it will stop any CDG forces healing in that land, and will protect our forces until the attack takes place. It also hides our forces while they move forward.

I rather found on blue now. One less city from CDG we'd have to capture. (If we don't found one there, CDG might.)

On the new yellow site, it seems to be stealing a lot of tiles from Apolyton that has a natural aquaduct. I'd prefer spliting that quanity of wine without fresh water between three cities.
