Okay. That's me.


Before I can present myself to the public (by posting in ACDG threads other than our private forum here) - I need a smart and flashy new uniform.


That means getting a better avatar than what I'm toting around at the moment.

I noticed that you all have ones that aren't supplied by this site. I want one that looks like a "charging knight of the crusades".

How do you do that?
And explain it in very simple easy to understand words.

I've got one I was intending to use when I was a Spartan (I joined Sparta before being elected as Mod). If you like it I can resize it to 80x80, simply go to 'options' in your control panel and 'change avatar', and upload it. It's not quite a charging knight, but see what you think:

Oh wow. That looks good. But it's too "grunty".
I really would like a "charging steed into battle" look.

I don't know how to "upload".

When you go to the 'change avatar' screen, click on browse, locate the file in your computer, and click on it. Then click ok, and it'll upload it for you

I think it's the best one too. The fourth one's horse is a bit too... messy, the first is too dark and the second, well.

Hey!

I just figured a new trick!

What I do is have the forum page (the one listing all the threads), in my main window. Then, instead of clicking on the last page all the time, then having to do the same to the next thread, but after having to click back on "ACDG3 Spartans"...;
I just right click on the thread I want and say "open in a new window". I can do this several times. Then I can just push on whichever I want and have instant access to that particular thread.

All subject to the time it takes for each page to load of course.

Are you using Internet Explorer? Because Mozilla Firefox is way, WAY more convenient when you want to open up several windows at ones and go between them. It has tabs, which are like small website windows inside the browser. So instead of the taskbar below with the Start button full of separate Internet Explorer windows, you have only one window for Firefox, and inside Firefox you have the separate windows, tabs, for various websites.

It is the official Spartan browser. It can migrate your bookmarks and cookies from IE too. I haven't used IE for anything except Windows Update for two years now.

That sounds like something really complicated for me to undertake, Kassiopeia. But I'll give it a look, and see how tough that will be to do...

In other news...

How does one go about making a pole?
Do I just check on the box that says: "Yes! Make a poll!" ?
And then will it give me my options?
Or do I have to make the poll in the white box first?
If the second; how do I know where to put the questions so that people can check a voting box?

Basically, yes. It'll show a window text box as usual that you need to put something in, and your "new thread" subject matter needn't be the poll question itself.

Then hit submit

It'll default to a question box and 4 choices (but you can edit it to many more) and you'll need to set a time limit (default is indefinite) and as to whether the poll is single choice (default button) or multiple choice.

Then you submit

As long as no-one else has viewed the post you can still edit as usual - the poll question, the responses (and can even add another response(s) at this time too.

After the first vote has been registered, you can't edit any more (only the mods can do that)

It probably is the same thing.

Just to show how tabbed browsing works (it's hard to put to words) I'll use an image: http://kotisivu.dnainternet.net/anttinor/tabs.JPG

Observe the bottom. The taskbar has only one part of it devoted to the browser. Inside the browser, however, I have ten different web pages open. The row of tabs inside the browser works like a task bar on its own for the pages.

Unfortunately searching private fora is not allowed. It has been requested a few times to change this IIRC, but until now to no avail. Also if it were to be implemented, it would most likely only be for ApolytonPLUS members.
