This will help us assess our teams' strength and motivation, and besides, I'm just plain curious...

I don't care so much about experience with the game itself (this will become evident as we progress in the turns) - but more for the reasons on why we picked this faction to play in the democracy game.
So I'll start off...
When I first started playing against human opponents, waiting for a new game to start took quite a while. So the easiest way to get involved in games, was to pick up dropped positions in existing ones.
Most turned out to be the Spartan faction. (And most were pretty dismal positions also.) But I persevered, and after a while got used to dealing with the factions drawbacks. Turned out to be a good learning experience, cause when I took the easier factions in newer games - man oh man - did I ever do good!
Lately, a thread was started at CGN (where I reside), and got curious what a democracy game was all about. So I came here and started clicking around as best I could (cause my computer has a hard time handling 'Poly), and saw that amongst the four factional choices; Sparta was the most difficult to play (in my experience and opinion).
Knowing that there would surely be some really top-notch players in the the other three factions - I clicked on (what I thought at the time was the player's list) the sign up link. I got a message saying that I was now waiting to be approved (!). Oups!
Okay then, I said to myself, let's take up a real challenge: I'll be on the Spartan team!
Now I'm glad that I'm here. Even though this is my first democracy game, I'm confident that we won't get blown off the map too soon. From what I see, we have some excellent people with us.
To sum things up:
- I'm proud to be a Spartan cause I like a challenge.
- I'm proud to be a Spartan cause I like the esprit de corps here.
- I'm proud to be a Spartan cause I can learn from my team mates.
- I'm proud to be a Spartan cause we have rovers (means you don't have to walk).

Who me? Oh right, well. I decided to join the ACDG because I found myself single for the first time in a couple of years. So what to do with all this free time I had all of a sudden? Yes, this seems like a fun thing.
Anyway, I posted in the recruitment thread, and I think the Spartan recruitment department impressed me the most. So I signed up, haven't regretted it since I don't play the Spartans much in SP, but I have done it a few times now since you guys taught me how
I'm really impressed by the level of play here, I'm especially fond of the: if we move this worker here we get 1 extra energy and then if we change taxes to 30-10-60 we loose one less energy to inefficiency and get an extra lab which will get us GenSpli 1 turn earlier -w00t!. I've learned to appreciate the value of the micromanagement, but it is still very difficult for me to follow. Diplomacy and long term strategy is what I find really fascinating, so those are the threads I follow the most.
Anyway, no girl will be able to drag me away from this game now for a while I think You're stuck with me, like it or not.
