Post-Leo's Egg Roll Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Once Leo's is finished in Egg Roll, we'll be faced with a tough call. Either we can begin a prebuild on another wonder - Bach's and Smith's are still possibilities - or we try to harness its GA for an awesome possibility: 30 spt. By moving the worker currently on a standard grass to another bonus grass (Buffet shouldn't need it during GA-time anyway), it will reach 30 spt (32 gathered, 2 lost to waste) for the duration of the GA. That's one turn spent on a barracks, then 19 horsemen for upgrade over 19 turns. As Zargon puts it: the Conquer-your-neighbor wonder.

I'm leaning toward having it produce horses during the GA. After that, we can reassess and see if we want to go back to a wonder prebuild.

Did someone build Sun Tzu's?

* UnOrthOdOx likes all the 'free' item wonders: granaries, barracks, banks, etc... GPT, baby, free GPT.

If we can get free markets and banks, let's do it. Better to also have free barracks, though. Seriously, if we need the horsies the other cities can provide them, yes? I also do not like the wasting of 10 shields on a barracks. 30SPT, barracks=20 S...

I think we're only going to get so many wonders; and of Sistine's, Sun Tzu's, Smith's, and Bach's, I would rank them in that order, from worst to best. So if we're going to go for a wonder, I'd prefer it be a prebuild of one the latter two of those four, as I think we at most have a shot at two of those. (Bach's I like because it's essentially two lux slider gold per city; failing Bach's, I prefer Smith's to Sun Tzu's, as we have cheap barracks already, and Smith's potentially gives more gpt per city.)

BTW, do I see UnO not advocating gibbing him mor units?! Though I suppose you are giving that up in favor of a military wonder.

Considering we are militaristic and its half price barracks, Sun Tzu would be lower on my priority list - it is a nice wonder, but I think another would be more useful ...

Especially one that might hinder someone getting their GA through it - cough - cough - England/CoD (like they have much chance of getting it their Man O' War ) or Sunshine (with their soon to be much less useful Hoplites) - getting one of Sistine/Bach/Smith is nearly always useful as well

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

It's been a while since I really posted here (and no I'm not getting back into the game ).

In any case I'd go for the 19 horses. Wonders don't win games (though the better ones certainly help ). Units do. 19 horseman, with cheaper upgrades to knights, added to what we already have and will have from other cities is a force to reckon with.

Barracks are cheap and we don't need them everywhere. Building Sun Tzu would certainly save some GPT, but building those units and using them on LL would in the long run add far more GPT to the coffers if you get my meaning.

I actually was placing Smiths over Sun Tzu's, but never mind.

PTW, PTW, PTW....

You know what...how about 20 catapults? IIRC they are 30 shields, right? Horsies/riders die and become outdated. Artillery does not. Besides, I know I'ld be pissing myself if my enemy rolled up 30+ artillery...

Cats are 20 shields. If we had trebs, those would be 30.

And yes, Horses/Riders die and become outdated, but they're going to be our frontline guys in this war.
