Well we must be only a few turns from when we want to launch this attack, and although I'd rather sleep now (2:45am) than search around trying to find exact times (that can wait some hours, at least). I have opened this thread to make sure we have a good solid think about what we need to do to be ready.
Completed
- Much of our army's construction and upgrading
- Road constructed heading East from Naked Aphrodite so we can reach the hills of Shaharazade in one turn
In progress
- Further Warrior/Swordman builds and upgrades[/b]
To Complete
- New City to be founded near the sugar West of Minnesota
- Road to this city and onto the sugar (allowing movement to the hills of Minnesota in one turn)
- Forces to be split into two stacks and placed in correct positions
- Withdrawal of workers from dangerous areas
- Precise plan of action to be planned with PAL
- Decide on the exact turn of events for the first turn or two of the war
- Revolution to Republic - when exactly?
This last thing is something we need to talk about somewhat, as I have seen it alluded to at times, as well as some possible plan to have CDG change around the same time, making them vulnerable to attack, yet I don't know exactly what this plan is, and I'm the Consul who's been playing many of the saves recently.
Are we to revolt at the same time as CDG (in contact with them about this), and then attack when they are still in Anarchy and thus unable to build or rush anything? This way we could possibly suffer a turn or two of Anarchic GA should they foolishly attack our Hoplites. Or....

* MrWhereItsAt hatches a nasty idea
What about the idea of getting them to hook a road up to at least one of the ones we have/will have at their borders on the pretext of giving them our spare lux we are actually hooking up for PAL? Then we could tell them when we were nearing readiness and delay their switch to Anarchy until we told them we could give them the lux so they wouldn't suffer too many happiness problems immediately upon the switch to Rep. Thus we could probably get away with revolting before they did without arousing any suspicion (not that suspicion would help them much then anyway).
So we need to work out an exact timeline, especially as relating to revolting, for the next few turns, and SOON.
Any thoughts on this are invited, as well as anything I may have missed that needs our thoughts.
Now I need to sleep.

I'm not sure how to get CDG to go into anarchy at the same time as us, but what we COULD do is this...
Contact CDG about aquiring furs. Tell them we can trade them wines. Tell them that we are JUST ABOUT to go into Anarchy and Republic, but we wanted to shore up an extra lux first so that we don't have unhappiness.
Press upon them the urgency of getting such a trade worked out. See how they respond. Maybe even ask them when they're going to switch governments. Tell them that the extra lux they get from us might make such a switch easier, and let them begin to think, "Hey, if Poly is switching we should too."
However, we need to note that Anarchy periods are random, and we could be in anarchy longer than CDG.
As for when we should go, I don't want us to go until we have all of the necessary troops to invade. We can go into anarchy the very turn the last one is produced, and use the anarchy period to move our units into position and finish the last road (if still unfinished).
The plan was to attack at turn 90, but my gut feeling is that we'll go into anarchy @turn 90 and attack shortly thereafter.

Also to do: get a chat with PAL on the exact war movements. This of course also means preparing a schedule etc for OURSELVES.
So, what can we say? We have 6 Swordmen and will build another within 3 turns. We have 2 more Warriors to upgrade. We can keep our towns happy to pop 4 with only one MP. There are 8 Hoplites in Hypnos, Poseidon, Apolyton and Naked. We can cover Poseidon with a warrior and, although theoretically we could send all 8 of these Hoplites, I don't feel comfortable without at least one unit in each, so one Hoplite in each of Hypnos (currently our troop producer), Naked (right near the border with CDG) and Apolyton (our capital, and near an area that barbs can spwan in). Thus we can send as many as 5 Hoplites. We've also got two Horsemen.
So 9 Swords, probably 5 Hoplites and 2 Horsemen, and 2 Archers to the west, but we might want to keep at least one of them in at home in case of barbs. We could call on the 2 Archers checking out the area to the NE, where PAL is gathering their forces, but since they are unlikely to do very much in a stack, keeping one around to accompany the PAL forces and to defend any cities they take and gift to us. Sending one with a stack to provide that preliminary fire thingy when attacked could be worth thinking about though.
So we have an army. We're splitting this into two teams, I guess - one through Naked to Shaharazade, and one... straight to Minnesota? And perhaps split them up equally, or thereabouts? These teams can assemble in Naked and the soon-to-be new city, and reach the gates of their targets in a single turn. Then we attack, I guess, and move all that we can into the cities when we capture them, leaving a Hoplite to cover those who've already attacked. Once we've healed we move on, to Possumopolis and Zarigueya respectively. Hopefully PAL will take outCityWithoutaName, Sven's Fjord and Reykjavik.
Sound OK? Once we have the basic idea agreed on for ourselves we can have the chat with PAL. I'd really like some criticism of what I have said so far. Be mean. You know I like it.
