I'm not the praying type, as I believe Vel knows, but I'll definitely be hoping he gets better. Vel is the main reason I got so into Apolyton (hmm, should I thank him or curse him? ). He's one of our best.

It was Vels Civ3 Strategy threads, that made me register and visit Apolyton more often (I was a lurker on rare occasions before), and that made out of that mediocre Civ2 and CtP2 player a halfway passable Civ3 player. We need you for Civ4, Vel! Now take a big club, hit that beast that bites your stomach, and return to business!

Oww, this is terrible . Vel is one of the most brilliant forumers, with amazing contributions, one of the people who make this site as great as it is... his enthusiasm and resourcefulness have always been amazing. Every time I talked to Vel, in the forum threads here or privately, it has been a pleasure.

What is it with illness and the most talented of posters here??

First WesW(whom i hope is better these days) and now Vel - its just not right.
I was so looking forward to what the Candle'bre project would become, with such a detailed and creative mind behind it it was going to be something really special. Still that is just speaking of my respect of Vel in terms of games.

As one guy(who had to fight of Malaria) to another with a bad illness, i can just say don't give up Vel, keep fighting and believing.
Doctors try their best but dont always get it right - my old man should have been dead over ten years ago, but he's still pottering along.
I should have had reoccurances of Malaria for the rest of my life.
I think like my father i decided to throw out the rule book and get better, you can do it too.

I'll be praying Thor keeps you strong.

I think it would be a good idea to either print this thread out for him. Or create another card thread, or maybe both.

Knowing that people are pulling for you in this kind of time helps I think. It can't hurt anyway, and I'm sure it will ease his pain a bit.

Good point. And I'd assume that with Candle'Bre persons, SMACers and people elsewhere, it could easily be 40 and more people who would like to send the card.

Maybe Hex himself could ask for the mailing address of Vel's hospital (assuming they accept mailings). It would be great .

I'll post a question in 'Candle'Bre Private' for Gil to post it when he reports back. It'll be a wait-and-see because I do not know anyone who knows Chris personally to contact for that info.

I also believe that I have Chris' home address somewhere, but I will have to track it down. I'm a little leery of posting private addresses though. Will leave this in the hands of the Forum Mods
