Horrible games:
Starship: titanic was the worse game I ever held.
Star control 3 was such a big throw back from the awesome, drool on, what ever you like ( on the the greatest game ever ), star control 2. 3 killed the great musics, vanished many races, added a bunch of crampy races, and took a horible story for single player.
Strategy? I hated war-wind, to hard to understand. But it wasn't BAD. Birth of the federation is zip compared to the awesome master of orion II, but it pass.
The worse strategy game was so bad I can't ever rememebr it's name. I threw away the CD. It was some sort of RTS, when you fought to protect the planet after a great computer virus wrecked the entire world.

Frontier: And this is how the fighting worked: Come to a full stop and shoot. No dogfighting. And the bugs bugged me!
I'd like to add Red Baron II. The nice "feeling" of Part I is lost!

OK, it's not really a bad game, it's mor a kind of disappointment. I played Elite on C64 so much ...
I may be realistic, but to me it was a pain in the *beep*. Maybe I should check this out and reinstall that game. I bought Privateer, because I was so disapointed ...

Big disappointment? MOO2. GREAT game. PATHETIC ai.
I played first on the medium level. Won. Went up to second hardest level. Won. Impossible level. (Yes, 8 civs) Won.
I can't stand the fact that I had to customize my race to SUCK to let the AI to have a chance.
I was looking forward to improving it to try new things in an effort to beat the nasty levels, not playing 3 games and throwing the game in the "I wish there was a HUMAN to play with" box...
Ultima III, best RPG for it's time. A bud showed it to me on an apple II, and I ate slept and dreamt that game til I got my first C64 (just to play Ultima III, believe it or not)

its looking for a big stick. you dont hit dogs with rocks you hit them with sticks it comes from sled dogging and things like that.
read Call of the Wild.
the worst game ever? hmmm oh i belive it has to be Myst.
its like a puzzle game with no clues. i got about halfway through it and thought to my self why?
another great one was hot dog stand.
the object is to run a profitable hot dog stand in some base ball park. its horrible.

Well I downloaded the Homeworld demo, and hated it. There's just way too much to do. And the interface isnt real great unless you have a super duper mouse w/3rd button and wheel.

Klingon Honor Guard - Load, crash! Reload, crash! Re-reload, crash! Nuff said.
Hard Nova -- What an idea: The bad guys outnumber you, have better weapons, better armor, and heal faster. The only way to win a battle is to find a small room which has room for just one more person than is in your party. Everyone crowds into that tiny room. Then one-by-one the bad guys enter, and your five guys blast him. When your fighting 50-100 guys, this can take a really long time and is as exciting as watching Al Gore sleep.
Battlecruiser 3000: I haven't played it, but I've heard nothing but bad things about it. Like the game crashes after about 45 seconds.

I'm amazed that I had to get almost to the end of this thread before I saw Outpost mentioned. When Computer Gaming World published a list of the 50 worst games of all time, Outpost was at the top, and rightly so.
To those who mentioned MOO2 and Colonization: if those are the worst games you've ever played, you are truly blessed.

Avalon Hill's Civil War 1861-1865. Terrible. The worst. No way to figure out how to give orders, units disappeared---I am talking entire Corps!!!!---, rules were seemingly random, and of course this is assuming you could get the game to run. The documentation gave absolutely no help. Never had a more frustrating experience.
I have bought a lot of games in my day. I'd say one out of five was worth my money---at best. I make sure I read reviews and read what players have to say about games before I buy now. Learned my lesson years ago.
