So, what's the worst game you ever played? The worst sequel? The biggest disapointment?
I think Frontier ("Elite II")

I'd have to say any cheap Doom clone.
Of course, there are some horrid Doom levels like these:
The Baron episode (Doom I, Episode II)
Doom 2099 (Doom II, all 32 levels)
Anything made by "Blade"
Any TC that doesn't live up to its expectations (like AlienTC)

I never played it, but from what I understand, StarCraft: Insurrection was abominable and bad.

Conquest of the New World was a waste.
Lords of the Realm II was a pain to install. I bought it before I had W95 and could not get it to run under DOS. Months later I upgraded to W95 and found LOTR2 in the bargin bin. It installed OK, but could not get into playing it.
I thought Ascedancy was cool, untill I found MOO II.
I could probably think of some other wastes.

Railroad Tycoon II. they got rid of the gates. It's been turned into a simple game of trade with nice graphics. Again! programmers destroy a game just for fancy graphics.

Starcraft: Stellar Forces was by far the worst piece of crap ever to exist. All of its scenarios were totally useless. I threw that CD away, it was such a piece of crap.
Darklands was also a piece of crap too.

The worst game was Colonization. Bryan Reynolds eally showed how bad a designer he is in that game.

The worst game of all time was a fantasy CRPG called DeathLord for the old Apple II.
The world was divided into two halves, and when you died the game auto-restored. Unfortunately it restored to the last save in THAT HALF OF THE WORLD. So you could lose weeks of playing time if you died in the wrong place. There was no way to tell which half of the world you were in, of course.
It also just generally made no sense. You would wander into a dungeon to find out how hard it was. There was no plot to speak of and the dungeon design was terrible. The fighting was repetitive and slow. You died all the time. And the only really cool thing was that it used Oriental Adventures character classes instead of the more typical knights, paladins and wizards.

The worst game was Ultima VI... it misses the flair of the old ones, has a really screwy world design, a travel-round-long-ways-plot
and too few monsters
2nd)
DON´T SAY THAT BOUT COLONIZATION !!!
it rules more than any Civ did
the micromanagement with professions and the
new resource management makes it a A-OK
PLUS:
the graphics give it a special flair - all in the game fits perfectly to create a historical aura.. it´s the best Sid Meier game ever... I still play it a lot !!!

OK, I'll get serious now.
Have to agree on Destiny. I wouldn't have minded the micromanagement if they had a decent rulebook--but man, it was crap!
Conquest of the New World was even worse.
But don't go ragging on Colonization--I loved the specialization of colonists. IMO, the AI is better than in Civ2 and SMAC. I have yet to even try 3rd level because 2nd is such a struggle.
RPG's--One of the worst I played was Wizardry V. God-awful graphics, the worst copy-protection system ever, absolutely stupid spell names, eccch!
But the all-time worst is Knights of Legend. 8 years to design the game and no way to trade gold between characters???? Where is the quality control.? Plus random encounters varied wildly, with no relation to party strength or location. The map was very unrealistic, with rivers cutting through mountain ranges and bisecting continents. Plus it took forever to load on my old C-64.
Have to disagree on Ultima VI. Great storyline--Gargoyles want you dead, it turns out for a very good reason. The world view was also excellent, plus you had the Orb of the moons, which could teleport you to any city, even to Gargoyle land. Agreed, the Pirate quest is a waste, but it's good fun.
I'm currently playing through the Might & Magic Archives--I to V on one CD. Only cost me $35, one of the best purchases I ever made.
By way of comparison, M&M1 blows out Wizardry V in every way--good graphics for the time, varied terrain, easy spell interface, unobtrusive copy protection, plus a storyline other than 'kill the UBG'. This despite M&M1 being released two years earlier.
I don't do shooters or RTS--and neither should you.

The worst game of ALL TIME has to be 'Destiny'. I bought that klunker after needing a breather from Civ II but wanting something similar. I can honestly say that I gave up on it after about 30 minutes it was so bad.
I would also like to join the chorus of defenders of the game 'Colonization'. That game rocked. Sure the graphics now suck in retrospect, but the game play was balanced and no one can deny the thrill of geting that free frigate once J.P Jones joins your Congress...

The WORST game of all time had to be Descent To Undermountain. Horrid graphics, and bugs, Bugs, BUGS!!! That was my 1/2 hour game!
Worst strategy game I've played was Outpost, but overall DtU was worse!

Agreed on Destiny, 30 minutes and then the bin.
I loved Colonization, although the unit limits etc. ruined it once you ngot good at it. And it ran on Amigas (all I had in them days).
Recently, the worst has got to be Braveheart. An excellent concept, but with impenetable resource management. In that, for instance, you must produce to feed, clothe and house your population but NO indication of how much etc.
The game, as released is buggy too, but I guess we all live with that. SMAC and CTP both crashed a lot on first release.
But worst of all, the game had many features chopped out btween the printing of the manual and the release of the game. Giving no time to test or balance. So it isn't tested or balanced. And no strategy, just build an army. Capture a province. Repeat as necessary. And boy does the AI stink. In fact, it cheats big time too, and not subtely. Avoid at all costs.
