I think we have long passed that point, CH. But after all this time, new points of view keep emerging, and I'm always interested in exploring those.
The 4 cities on Bob... it is strange, but I don't think GS has ever truelly understood how sensitive it was. And the same discussion happened a couple of times: we had it with GoW, with GoW / ND, with RP (well, not much of a discussion there, if we could have held onto their territory, they would have been happy to hand over 3-4 cities), and with Lego. Not once were our true intentions understood. One team didn't trust us, the other thaught we wanted a lot more... strange this. I can honestly say our goals were a lot more modest. I don't know where we got the name of being brutal warmongers, eager to enslave the world
Hum. Well, perhaps Beta's communications did have a tiny bit to do with that

For a while, CH was GS. But that only happened a couple of months later. At the time of this discussion, I think Nathan was still at the helm, he left in the first few turns of the Bobian war (went on a well-deserved pension given his huge effort up to, and through the Voxian war).
CH, at that time, GS was a mess... and it stayed like that until after the war ended and you had taken over. Wars wear you out very quickly. I can certainly understand the importance of spearheads was never properly discussed, what was? Only looking at how we came to the decision to support RP still makes me shake my head. Non-informed, without any guarantees, we just did what felt was right... and at that time, people were calling us cold and calculated. We were neither.

I think after being demonized by the other teams throughout the war of voxian agression, we were a bit too eager to come to another team's aid.
Those were dark times for GS. Its quite remarkable that we were able to rebound from that and get back in the game. Chalk that up to GoW/Nd having to resettle their new lands and Gs's fortress Stormia. Just enough bodies to fill the coast!

I can't recall if we disbanded galleys, but it wouldn't have been for units. We had enough units, only out of place. We had a couple of turns were settlers and workers were guarding our coasts. And we weren't going anywhere, that much was certain. So why need galleys?
We may have been paranoid, but it did create a feeling of safety that we desparetely needed. Don't forget, from the end of the Ancient era, we had been at war. We were exhausted. At such a time, you start looking at everyone (yes, Vox, you too. Who says you wouldn't come back to retake your birth ground). Many of our team had left, or started lurking (I'm extremely proud and happy Aeson rejoined our team after an absence of a year) because of the wars and public 'propaganda'. We managed to get some new blood, and found our footing again.
It doesn't really matter if any other team actually was going to invade us, but for the first time, we could let go, and start some planning of our own. From the start of this game, we had been reacting to stuff happening around us, instead of taking initiative. That sea wall, how stupid and unnecessary it may have looked in your eyes, was directly responsible for us taking the science wonders... creating a path to Legoland. That had more to do with peace and quiteness in our team, than with anything else... and after a while, we got a team again (thanks in no small part that we actually have more builders in our ranks. I'm not a general.) So laugh what you want, I'm glad we had our spears, horses, and WCs guarding our coast.

Lego?
Either them or GoW, I would think.
Bischop, if this concerns Lego it's not so important, but if you attack another team, could you please be more precise in what happens? I know it's not a pleasant job to do, but it does give a lot of info which is needed in a war.
Well, not needed, but seeing that we agreed on the battle reports (and I don't have to type them anyway ), we better use them to fullest extent. Knowing where damaged troops are left behind is useful info.
Of course, you don't need to publish your battle reports, you only have to give them to the team under attack before they play their turn. We did get used to the public reports, though.
