I'm starting this thread as it is impossible, with our level of involvement, to have all of our dealings with PAL in one thread (the Embassy thread) and still find them easily. I think it will be a miracle if border negotiations are short. Also, we will need a place to see the state of advancement of these negotiations in time.
So, here is my revised tile count
Ourselves (includes all land South of and including the NW-SE line running from the Gold Hill to the Ivory Plains immediately South of the PAL town of Pumpkinland. This does not include islands.
Grass: 38
Bonus Grass: 14
Forest (grass underneath): 9
Plains: 90
Forest (plains underneath):13
Jungle: 0
Marsh: 0
Floodplains: 12
Mountains: 9
Hills: 22
Tundra (incl forest): 6
Desert: 35
Freshwater: 1
Thus:
Grass or can be converted into grass: 61
Plains or can be converted into plains: 103
This gives us a total of 248 land tiles, 73 good food producers (FP+grass), 103 decent food producers (plains), 31 shield terrain (Mtns + Hills) and 41 low food/production (Desert + Tundra).
PAL (includes everything KNOWN North or East of line running NW-SE from PAL Silk colony). Does not include islands.
Grass: 32
Bonus Grass: 30
Forest (grass underneath): 14
Plains: 46
Forest (plains underneath): 8
Jungle: 24
Marsh: 21
Floodplains: 13
Mountains: 26
Hills: 22
Tundra (incl forest): 0
Desert: 19
Freshwater: 1
Volcano: 1
Again:
Grass or can be converted into grass: 121
Plains or can be converted into plains: 54
This gives them a total of 256 land tiles, 134 good food producers (FP+grass), 54 decent food producers (plains), 48 shield terrain (Mtns + Hills) and 19 low food/production (Desert + Tundra).
Things to note
- We currently have almost even numbers of total tiles, but this is not counting the unknown tiles of PALs, of which we can be certain of 8 within their bounds we have explored, + unknown in the SE section, maybe another dozen.
- PAL has 134 grass/fp or convertible tiles to our 73. This is partially offset by us having 103 plains to their 54, but in comparison grassland is much better until RRs, even then grass retains something of an advantage. IMO this should be the main point we put to PAL - to rebalance at least some of this.
- We have the same number of Hills - 22 each, but PAL is up on Mountains - 26 known to our 9. This is basically balanced by our surplus of 16 Desert tiles over them.
- I don't consider our 6 tundra to be worth considering much, nor PAL's Volcano
What I have not counted in either amount are the tiles between the two boundaries, and these add to:
Grass: 1
Bonus Grass: 2
Forest (grass underneath): 1
Plains: 2
Floodplains: 7
Hills: 7
Desert: 4
Which is 24 tiles in all, about balancing total tile wise with the suspected PAL tiles that are unknown. This gives an extra 11 good food tiles, which in no way would make up for the huge advantage PAL has over us here, but it helps. To offset that advantage in good food tiles, this area would give us a small advantage in good production tiles (Hills and to a lesser extent Deserts).
