	Games, Games, and More Games Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I'll be getting a PC soon, and I was wondering what games I should buy? I'm not used to such a big selection of games, considering I've always been a Mac user, so I think I'll need some help. I like RPG's, MMORPG's, and FPS'.

Deus Ex is a very good one - a sort of hybrid of RPG and FPS, and it's very cheap. I saw it at my local EB for only $10.

Too many games. In those genres I'd pick out:

FPS

Half-life
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Halo
No one lives forever 2

Depending on how good your machine is you can reasonably add:

Doom3
Half Life 2
Far Cry
Unreal Tournament 2004

RPG

Neverwinter Nights + expansion
Baldur's gate 1 and 2 (haven't played this myself yet)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

MMORPG:

Read the MMORPG thread!

That should be enough to start.

For MMORPGs I would look into Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft, or City of Heroes. Not guaranteed enjoyment - and I haven't played the second two - but those are the best in general, I think.

Don't get Half-life. With Half-life 2, you'll get the original Half-Life with the brand new Half-Life 2 engine.

with such a powerfull computer you may have problems running some of the older titles mentioned(especialy the pre XP ones), so go for the latest/newest versions.

And for an RPG, Morrowind is a good bet(loads of fan based stuff to play with too) - infact you might be able to run Oblivion(Morrowind2) on your setup

good question, when did xp come out? i'm guessing at stuff older than a 2000 release date, but am not 100% sure. XP is not a very game friendly version from what people say, so just be aware that older software(like SystemShock2 and BaldursGate1+2) might have a few problems. Its possible to find a fix for many though(even CTP2 got a fan made XP fix!).
Really i was just giving you a heads up - as i guess a mostly Mac user it might be helpfull to know that ok the PC has more games than you can shake a stick at, BUT not every computer can run all of them

Still the list you posted above looks pretty recent and should be fine.

The only problem is that Halo 2 will be coming out for Xbox, not PC. Of course, if you also have an Xbox, that doesn't really matter...

No, because that would take away sales from Halo 2 Xbox, and give people less reason to buy an Xbox. It was the same for the original game; the PC version didn't come out for at least year after the original game.
