could everyone post their email address so the game can start

What are we doing with the time of play?

Just play your turn as soon as possible after you receive your email and then send it on?
That seems sensible to me (as long as everyone keeps an eye on their email and everyone accepts that people will be at work/whatever sometime and accept the delays this causes

Or some other system?

Zulu E - the order looks good. Although I am not sure about Makahlua. That puts her in between Poland and Holland - in terms of play times.

Ms Mak - is that OK with you?

Grandpa knows my e-mail address.

And Grandpa is right - the standard etiquette and expectation in pbem's is that you play and send as soon as you can - within reason.

This is a great time sequencing for an 8 player game, with reliable folks. It should move well.

May I also suggest that when we are set to go - you start a new thread called Zulu Dawn for the turn postings, and inlude the turn order in the first post - along with an appropriate picture that either Paddy or I can provide. The last item obviously is not a necessity - more of cultural norm here in the pbem forum.

Yeh, as long as the times of play are fine, it works out ok. Heck, we have 6 player games going with 2 turns a day- who knows what you could do with 8. 1 turn a day is 1 turn a day regardless of player numbers ... as long as everyone's fairly active, which these seem to be.

And if i didn't enter my email earlier, it is my username at yahoo.com , though beta knows it well.

Strictly speaking you could have enforced times, and/or specific play times. Such as the 6p2aday styles. Also, some games just put people in whatever order (most conquest scenario games, for example, ask you what civ you want, not what play order you want, even though it's fixed slots). Those tend to go somewhat slower, but then again i'm a perfectionist at slotting, and I nonetheless screw it up about half the time

This is going to sound condescending no matter how i put it, so ... I assume you are aware of 'anti-spam' techniques to avoid email trollers? Although you probably are, I figure I should make sure. Some people are very testy about things like that. Again, apologies if i'm just telling you something that's patently obvious, but it's best to be sure (Not that antispam techniques are particularly effective ... from what I can tell, I get so much spam that I can't possibly be on any more lists anywho )

Missed the boat on this game, not that I should be getting into too many more PBEMs anyway.

As to what snoop meant Zulu...posting Grandpa Troll's email address with the @ and . actually showing makes it far easier for someone trolling a site for email addresses to latch onto. Most PBEMers post their email addresses in various ways to eliminate the @ and . symbols which means it doesn't become a highlighted link, something which is easier for for the spam trolls to latch onto.

Yep.

As to Makahlua, I think what Beta means is that she should probably be placed right after Beta and snoop, but before Paddy, in the turn order as she is from Texas. It makes it smoother if the game doesn't have to cross continents back and forth.

BTW, I should have known both Beta and Paddy would latch on to any new PBEM available.

Yes, I do need to be moved in between Paddy and Snoopy, that's where I am in other games with the Big P, and it works well And Monarch is good - that's bout my play level anyway

Yep. Just as long as you never write someone's email straight up, but have something mixed up with it

A lot of people go with "nospam" mixed in - ie snoopy369nospam@yahoo.nospam.com or somesuch Other people do the snoopy369 AT yahoo DOT com, or even snoopy369 TA yahoo TOD com. Anything to trick the spammers.

The really clever people use a picture for the @ sign ...


The difference between monarch and regent and emperor is mostly just how pissy people get and how corrupt they get in a PBEM with no AI, so most play either regent or monarch depending on how large of empires you want to encourage.

You are correct sir..its just well..I see lots of folks get stuck waiting and waiting to get something off the ground so thats why I try to be a motivator and get mooving versus talking about it..maybe the manager in me..

The absolute worse decision is NO DECISION
