If you were Sparta and you had missile rovers (which I don't think they do, but just in case), and you were looking for a fat juicy target to strike, who would you strike first?

I would strike the softest human target. We cannot determine who this appears to be to the Spartans, except that since the Angels are the furthest away (assuming the Spartans really are in the northeast), they are probably not it.

We've annoyed the Spartans, but they know very little about us, except we have at least one mind worm, have probe teams, and boast of our ability to take on Yang. If we're really lucky, they don't even know what land mass we're on, as I can't think of anything we've done to reveal which land mass we actually came from.

The Morganites have a large population base, but likely very thin military right now. If this persists very long, they won't have a thin military, and an opportunity will be lost. However, it seems the Spartans have been focusing on increasing their population, rather than their military.

Note that I didn't vote in the poll because I don't know enough to tell who the Spartans would attack first.

If they find out where we are, they will hit us. They will probably hit us - since they will go for weakest human faction, and we are the weaker faction that is near them. It is just matter of time when they come after us IMHO.

Tired of ads?

Readiness for an attack is important, but we must not put ourselves out of the game by turtling. It's one thing if the Spartans defeat us, and another if we defeat us.

I must say that rover speed is 2 tiles/turn and with such speed they have only 2 possible targets - Morgan and Hive

Otherwise, by the time they'll unload their first wave of rovers on us we'll have plasma defenders and CDF (if they build rovers it's hard to grab CDF)

Spartans have doctrine: flexibility. We are in their grasp.

I can't agree. They have very limited intelligence on us (no infilitration, likely no map). A strike at this time would weaken them relative to the other two factions, and it's not like we're on top.

let's see.. if their position is due to North and our in South then there's a 50% map height distance between them and us + add obstacle modifier (fungus and landmasses), it's 100% map height

IIRC map height is ~100, so it'd take at least 50 turns for them to get here!

Even if it were 20 turns, then we wont have to worry about it!

Foils move faster than that. We have around 15 turns before needing to worry about it.

Ok, sorry, transport foils move at speed of 3..
Does ot make any difference?
I said minimum 50, now it's 50 * (2/3) = 34 rounding up

Maybe I'm messing with the distance, but just think about credibility of such campaign - they must be mad to attempt it:

1.stockpile enough rovers (not that easy at 2140)
2.stockpile enough foils (at least 3)
3.run through fungus fast and past all IODs (extremely hard I think)
4.Unleash a surprise (otherwise suicide mission) attack and take at least 2 bases in one turn (not to be fought back ASAP)

Not counting that they won't be able to refit their lines..

It's like launching D-Day in Archangelsk (if you know Russia's Northern side)

Look at special issue of Sparta. If you don't want to read it this is ultrashort summary: "OMFG! We are attacking University." This can be either truth or ruse, but if they want to beat the game they cannot afford to waste time attacking us. Taking a juicy AI however would put them in second place and made them a rival to Morgan. And they are a momentum faction after all. So this question is answered now.

Uhm they could easily see where we are by just resigning on their turn. But I guess that is considered cheating, almost impossible to prove though.

Cheat or not, it is posible, therefore we must assume they have done so.

Along that vein, i assume there are rules regarding trying to coerce other team members for in game info in forums or chat, etc.?

As I've posted, we've twice spotted their scout foil off our coast. The Spartans know where we are, though they have very little information about our interior. We've never seen the Spartan coast, yet we know where they are based on inferences. Given mod observation of the forums, I would assume that other factions have not, in fact, cheated (excepting known events related to Enigma_Nova).

I would assume there are not rules related to coercing information in public areas. Why would there be? If you don't want to say anything, don't. It's not like they can torture you.

I just figured there would be rules to prevent people from just giving up info (for whatever reason) and just claiming they were "tricked" in to revealing things.

I just want to know where we stand in relation to overt spying.

Yes, this "milking" was an issue in the last ACDG, I dont think its possible to perform such recon activities again.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

If you're tricked by most means into revealing something of importance, you deserve it. On the other hand, making an attempt to trick a member of another faction is pretty hostile and would be cause for vendetta.
