quote: Greetings folks. I have sent this to the members of Python that I think may be active. If there are others - please pass it on.
Ok - d-day is here. We are facing two stacks of death. We can do serious harm to one of them.
Here's our pitch. We still believe that this war makes no sense for Python, and we are still baffled by your alliance with CoD. We appreciate sticking by an alliance, and honouring commitments, and and all that good stuff, but you now have a golden opportunity to dictate terms on this continent.
Here's what we propose. We attack CoD. As we said, we have sufficient forces to seriously cripple one of the two stacks. On your turn, you declare war on CoD, eliminate the survivors, capture the 23 catapults, and head north. You can dictate the terms for us - Python and Monkey - splitting the continent; we would want some allotment of CoD land, but you would get the lion's share. Survival is our goal, as you can well understand.
If you play this out as you and CoD have it planned - your empire will be split with CoD in the center. Enough said. If you play it out as we have suggested, you have the majority of the continent, with your empire consolidated.
And after the battle in question, you will undoubtedly have the strongest standing army on the continent.
Again - the main barrier to this plan is your commitment to CoD. If that is unbreakable, and I appreciate the dynamics of demo games ARE different, then so be it. We will respect that. But, if you don't mind tarnishing your honour a bit, then I am sure you will see the logic to our plan.
We are NOT making a similar proposal to CoD.
And we WILL make a stand here. There is not much room left to retreat to.
Given the seriousness of the Armageddon Day for the Simian Nation, we will sit on the save as long as you need to debate this. We are available for discussion at your convenience. Simply pm or e-mail conmcb25 or me.
Sincerely - Beta of Monkey |
Just recieved from Beta. My immeadiate response would be to reject them outright, but I think they deserve one last consideration before we take them out. CoD are our sworn allies, and besides, we don't have the border defenses to deal with them at this time, so provocation is not the best thing to do.
So, I'm for a 'no' response. Anyone else? I plan on sending a reply tomorrow.

The biggest aspect I see hasn't been mentioned yet. CoD is a valued research partner, and with their land and certain lack of infrastructure due to the pressures of the war, Monkey couldn't hope to be as useful in that role as CoD has been.
Modo, I'm with you. I have no doubt that they sent a similar offer to CoD. Just for informational purposes, though, this is the same line of reasoning they've been trying to sell us since practically the beginning of the war. What I don't know if they realize or not is that CoD was going to have the great REX regardless, as they were well positioned to cut us off quickly if we tried to expand to the southwest. In order to get a fully functioning dual-core empire set up, quite simply, we need Monkey's land.
As for a response, let them know we gave the proposal a good faith consideration, but ultimately and unanimously found it to our benefit to support our valiant allies of CoD. Careful with the wording, though, as Beta will attempt to twist our response and pass it along to CoD to foster doubts as to our steadfastness.
