	After the death of our neighbor: Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

We will have several MAJOR issues.

Land agreement with PAL

Our significant financial hardship - we need to disband units starting NOW. Start with the extra warriors, and if necessary (and I hate to do this) add a worker or two back into a city. The only way out of this is to get some more cities ASAP, along with fewer units and some markets.

Our trust of PAL. For the past 2 turns, they have conveniently forgot to send us the Techs we asked for, despite the fact we have a joint forum now and I reminded them of it the first time. Lets position one of our offensive stacks so as to be able to retreat quickly and defend ourselves, while marching on them as necessary. I still trust them, but that doesn't mean I intend on dropping that bar of soap in front of them and then bending over to pick it up.....

I just sent a quick email to F-P and said Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on the techs.

I'm against joining any workers into cities.

I'm also against disbanding any vetran and elite military units.

I sugest we start REXing to fill out our portion of the contient and in the mean time lower the science beaker to pay for it. As the cities are built, our # of allowed units will soar. We can also set these new size 1 cities on wealth, and use our existing warriors as their garrision / police and send a few of our exisiting workers out to improve their lands.

jon.... we are 100% tax now!!!! We just switched into republic and our military size is such that we are paying about 80 gpt in unit support, and only making about 55 gpt (estimates as I am at work). If we started off in a GA, our gpt would be acceptable without any science, but without we have only 3 turns of reserve before we start loosing improvements. Unfortunately, we have no choice IIRC, as we assumed we would be captureing more cities than we are.

Perhaps we could try to attack with multiple Hoplities to trigure our GA since CDG won't attack them?

Any Hoplite that loses reduces our upkeep.

Thats possible assuming they are going Alamo in Zari

And we could call a revolution in 3 turns if we're not in a GA by then to stop paying unit support for a few turns and then switch back to Monarchy.

Can't imagine both us and our ally not having Monarchy since we do have Republic.

The Monarchy tech allows The Hanging Gardens and Great Wall in addition to the govt.

That does not mean that we have Monarchy, now, does it jon? Since we don't even have Polytheism yet. And we don't have any use for with of HG or GW.


And in stock, when following a builder strat, republic is much better than monarchy, just follow this link if you want to debate that PoV.

No, nobody has monarchy. We got republic as a free tech with philosophy. Our hoplites are too far away to attack. Unfortunately. They keep disbanding everything prior to us getting there. This last turn, they disbanded their capitol and now they only have one size 1 city. It will probably be destroyed soon, unfortunately. They are attempting to run, as they have several galleys that we can see, and at least 2 unacounted settlers.

OH, and having PAL attack us is not an option unfortunately.

We need to keep marching at least a couple of hoplites towards them in either case. In the small chance that we may trigger the GA.

Or perhaps its best we dont trigger it?

Disband the lesser military units, build a slew of settlers and wait on the GA until we are more fully developed.........

According to GK, we are in a GA as of this turn. Not sure how that could have happened (or how it actually happened, as we haven't had any battle log sent).

We'll have to look at this to see if we are getting close to making money now.

Cool, the GA will save us from having to disband the useful units. We should probably still disband any land military unit that's not at least a vetran.

Perhaps we can build several wonders during our GA in cities with fresh water so they grow to size 7 to tripple their supported units?

Particularly the Colosssus, Statue of Zeus, and Mussieum that are all cheap?

The non river towns that can grow to 3 before producing a settler should probably all be producing a settler.

Also of note, PAL might be as adversely affected by CDG disbandment of cities as we are.

Conquests. Map trading now is allowed in game with navigation, not map making. What we asked was for the game admins to allow us to exchange a screen shot or two of the disputed region, an area we both have fully explored, to assist us in our discussions.
