Anyone get this game? Apparently it was released today. Troika made it with the Half Life 2 Engine so it should be at the very least be interesting.

I'm almost certainly going to get it but it'll be another week or so before it's out here.

I'm a little disappointed at only having the 7 Camarilla clans to choose from (No Lasombra antritribu by the sounds of things ) but as long as I can still play a Tremere or something reasonably interesting I'll be relatively happy.

Incidentally I really hope that Troika hasn't put in one of those online validation thingummies.

I too thought this was the start of HongHu Snowflake's vampire game OMFG I wasted TWO seconds of my life and then I felt the need to respond to the problem and the more I felt I had to talk about it the more time I wasted until it became an endless spiral of of complaints vs. time wasted and liek I can't get out of this pattern it like OMG someone owes me something for all the time I've wasted here!

Anyway...it's been getting some really good reviews apparently. The only negative I've heard about it is the combat. I just wonder if it can run at just 256 RAM.

Full PM-box? Change here!

So, has anyone played this game yet? On the one hand, I'd like to try it, but then I am not a big fan of FPS (give me MP any day, but SP... meh), and by the reviews, it seems like the game puts a large emphasis on combat, as opposed to quests and actual roleplaying elements?

Really? I guess I should read some more reviews, or at least pay more attention to them. I guess part of what gave me the impression this game was about action was that the majority of screenshots, and literally all of the videos I've seen seem to concentrate on fighting. I just figured there wasn't much more to show of this game... I guess they were just enticing the action-fans? Hmh. I wish they released a demo.

Gamespot review gave it a 7.7.

It seems that the reviewer was a little miffed at the 'clunky' combat.
Apparently he couldn't seem to shoot too well just by moving the cursor over the target given that he hadn't invested skill points in firearms.

Well no %$#* sherlock!

Reader reviews are great though - apparently they were able to read the 'RPG' tag on the box or something or somehow managed to figure out that little trick with investing points into something you want your character to be good at.

Well, if everything goes to plan, I'll be getting this game sometime this weekend. Hopefully tonight since I was asleep for over 14 hours earlier (because I had been up for quite a while earlier) and have the energy to stay up late tonight.

What are the actual system requirements of this thing?
Given Troika's track record and the reviews, I'd guess it's a bit high?

Yes, it runs worse than Half-Life 2. You'll need a pretty good system to run it well. The strangest thing is that it didn't run decently on my system until I started running it in Windows 98/ME mode.

Anyways, I just got it. I think it's a great RPG, it has brilliant dialogue, story, character development, etc. But graphically it's inferior to Half-Life, it runs a lot slower, the world is generally not physics enabled (barring a handful of boxes), more/longer loading pauses, and the combat isn't as fun. It's a good game, but technical problems defintely hold it back.

I installed it and it doesn't really run at all. It "runs" but incredibly slowly. I have a friend with the same system that ran HL and Doom3 well too. I'm gonna try to see if I can do some things to help speed it up or whatnot.

Apocalypse, how's it coming along? Have you been able to play the game any? If so, impressions?

As far as running slow, the only thing I can say, try the latest drivers for your graphcis card. On my laptop with an nVidia card, for instance, all games that used a certain feature of the graphics card used to run incredibly slow. I mean painfully slow. Then I installed drivers for the same video card from a different laptop manufacturer, and now the games run decently fast, although not blazingly so.

It's pretty **** though that if you shoot at an enemy and your cursor is over the enemy's head you'll miss simply because you don't have the skill points. That's not very realistic isn't it. And it spoils the game.
It would be better to give some extras like faster reload, possibility to use heavier weapons and things like that

Actually I couldn't get any further...it had just stopped after going really slowly in the opening scene. I haven't tried it recently because I've been with my girlfriend for the past week. I might work on it tonight though.
