Kinjiru's suggestion may work if you play as clan Oda but what about clan Uesugi or Shimazu? they can expand without any double front so AI gang up will have less effect.
I like Urban Ranger's idea more and when things look obvious the game should be finished.(no point of playing further unless there are some hidden challenges like one of your famous generals attempts a big scale coup)
