Full PM-box? Change here!

Yes, virtual screens, a special utility that makes it run, etc., it's all fine. However, Civ3 is the only game so high-tech that it refuses to run on anything less than 1024x768, normally.

Sounds like you played ToT with its infamous floating, non-centered units. I've never had that problem with Civ 2.42/MGE.

I will shoot anyone who is heretical against CIV2!

Keep in mind that overall graphic technology has moved on just a 'wee bit' since the 1994-1998 era!

I think a 3D, steroid-injected isometric view is on the cards.
The Pirates/Rome Total War look is the most likely candidate.

Now I am going back to my 'hard to see' CIV2 graphics!

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

If you are talking to me, I loved Civ2, but
1) time has passed and so has the expectations and possibilities.
and
2) Firaxis need to make a game people like, and not a game some old fans of Civ2 on an internet site like.

I don't care much for graphics, it's a long way down on the list for me, but it has to look like a new game in some way or another.

I wasn't actually talking to you, but if you feel obliged to think that way, go ahead!

Do you assume I am any different?
Why do you think I mod the game?
Because I like the original graphics?

Old fans have money too, and will buy CIV4 if it passes muster.

CIV3 did not pass muster - Hence, I stuck with CIV2.

Wrong.
Graphics do count - To a degree, at least.
Megalomania must look good onscreen.

It has to play like the old, but add much that is new, and much that is improved.

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I looked at the current scans... and I did all I could to try and not like the graphics.

But I cant!!

I just love them! Even though they are all quite happy and cartoony like!

I think that it means that Civ is finally getting back to its old tongue in cheek, silly attitude (like with the newspapers and stuff).

actually this gives me a thread idea.

Civ I graphics are fine by me.

Sure, graphics came a long way, but I much rather Sid & Co. put resources on improving gameplay instead of graphics. This is not about realism, it's about fun.
