I'm sorry, booger. I'm just yanking your chain. I don't dismiss the possibility of current simple life on Mars, just the likelyhood. And the evidence strongly suggests that any water on Mars is frozen and locked away. Any outbursts are few and far between and don't stay liquid long. When I was little, I believed in Cydonia, the face on Mars, and five-sided pyramids. Now? No.

But on asteroids they'd burn up when entering the atmosphere. I'm assuming with Mars we'd be talking about them traveling along with samples, so they'd actually have a chance of surviving.

But to all of this. If they get the evidence, sure, but the only thing those images say to me is we still have a hell of a lot to learn about Mars' geology before we can start screaming we found life.

There are plenty of natural features on Earth as well that look artificial. Just look at some typical Atlantis banter.

Most meteorites are very cold shortly after impact. The interaction with the atmosphere that causes them to 'burn up' only really effects the temperature of the surface atoms and doesn't penetrate the object at all. Whatever doesn't burn off in the atmosphere remains very cold.

Some facts about mars.

There finding it does have a more active atmosphere than the Viking and Soviet counter-parts originally speculated.

Mars core is dead and has been for a long time.

The temperature on mars varys between -200F to 60 F (summer and winter extemes)

When you mention the more active atmosphere what are you saying exactly? If mars had much more atmosphere than NASA thought it did it would be patently impossible for them to have safely landed the rovers. I hope you realise that the extreme thinness of the martian atmosphere is in some respects the number one obstacle to prospects for surface life.

coincidence. You are only seeing this alleged 'alien' from one angle with one angle of lighting. We need a follow up image with different illumination before jumping to any conclusions about whether that is really an 'alien' or just a natural landform.

I remain unconvinced.

That doesn't look like mud to me. It looks like ice and dirt. When I'd drive to my (then) girlfriends place in Montana her dirt drive way would look like that and there most certainly wasn't any liquid water at that time of year.

1) You're asking me to prove a negative about a form of life the existence of which has not even been demonstrated!

2) It's absurd to think that life that evolved on Mars could even survive on Earth, let alone be infectious to humans.
