180 BC The Reign of Jon C Nunn Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I'm actually not seeing anything new that wasn't polled before, and so am planning on continuing the policies set by the vote of the previous administration with one exception:

Trade buys: Price of these techs have crashed since the last administration and so I'm planning on an advisory poll on that issue. Still, Greece is currently our only option to buy them.

This will be on the poll.

Forming new cities: I'm not seeing any more "settle west" sites at this juncture, but am still seeing quite a few "settle east" sites.

I don't see a need to poll on this, unless someone sees city sites that aren't east.

Please post here if you see any big issues.

I've given some minor orders for this turn already:

1. Rearanged the work force in Rome to cut a turn of the build of the Bacrilla. (Now 5 turns, so it will complete during my administration. )

2. Several Court Houses & Market Places rushed. (Short-rushed via Heavy Calvary in our more productive cities.) This will cut turns off builds in those cities / increase our taxes, and in a few cases help with happiness.

PS: I'll probably post the poll Tuesday evening my time (US Eastern because I'm out of town, that is -05:00)

There is still space left to the west. I know it won't be productive, but with Walls and Temples everywhere, we can take a lot of land with relatively few cities (very wide spacing, counting on border expansions). The space left to the north-east is so far, it won't be productive either. Think about all the land, Emperor.

We have a good base for that, because of free Walls in every continental city. The places far from Italy won't do much good anyway, so they can be built on hills, in locations that aren't exactly ideal for growth. They would act as forts, to control the territory. A few Legions can build the Roads without endangering Workers. Garrisons can keep the population at bay. Cavalry can act as mobile response to any threats, once Roads are ready. I think it's worth a try, especially in the west, where we plan to stop hostilities anyway.

I believe current plan is no peace with Carthage until they surrender both the Southern city in Carthagian island and all cities in Carthagian Taurus.

But if this in dispute, I'd be happy to also post a poll for the desired 20 turn cease fire conditions with Carthage:

1. Cease Fire Now / right after current turn attacks
2. Not until it includes Southern Corscia
3. Not until they give the cheaper tech for free.
4. Not until we get a MGL to use for our FP
5. Not until it includes all Carhigan Spain
6. Not until it includes all of Cathigan Spain

That issue was voted down in the previous administration.
Things have not changed significantly IMHO to revisit now; might be an issue for the next administration.

Hmm, I guess senator Aqualungs loud voice made me believe we wanted to make peace with Carthage. I don't think we need to stop their extermination, not until Spain is Roman.

I still claim we can settle to the west, but I'm not sure we can do it now, before Carthage is driven into the sea. Emperor, do you think we can wage war on Carthage, and keep settling that region at the same time? Or would it require more Legions, than are available?

I think there are 2 citizens heading west. One of them should settle near the celtics border to cut them off from more expansion. I'm sure they have at least one settler in Spain and maybe they are planning more cities there.
The northern part of Spain is still unsettled and even unexplored. We may claim it as part of our way to the victory.

Got spare money?

Well, I'm planning on putting a vote on what victory conditions we require for a 20 turn cease fire with the Carthigans.

I'm planning on voting options 2 & 5 myself. [Clear Southern Corsica & Spain]

On the citizens in route anywhere, I plan to keep them going wherever the previous Emperor sent; I do plan to send new citizens to settle wherever it can be safety done and am seeing many more such places both just north and just east of our current borders than west at the moment due to the active war with Carthage.

Claim part of Spain is a decent idea we should at least ponder.

A Spanish Outpost would help..even if we later find it necessary to abandon..

Are we set up for troop reinforcement?

I hate to set it up and lose it..

I would like to see some picture of Spanish entertainment options as well..for the dignitaries we will entertain.. OF COURSE!

I vote for taking all of Spain and then the westernmost city in Northern Africa before asking for a ceasefire. We can take the 20 turns to move troops into northern Africa for an eastward blitzkrieg.

I'm voting for finishing up the conquest of Spain. As stated before by Senator Modo, it's an excellent landgrab opertunity. After that, I think it'd be prudent for our legions to turn again toward those pesky Celts up north...

The Celts lands are closer and far more ripe for the picking than Africa can ever be !!

We should settle with Carthage before we commence on another war and it would be better to target the Celts than the Greeks. The Greeks will help keep the Persians at bay until were stronger and ready to tackle them ourselves

Movement orders for first turn resulted in:

Capturing Neo Carthage with the Army.

Killing a few Carthigan units in Spain & Northern Corsica, including one of their galleys there.

Founding the city in Crete. Defenders moved to that city.

The bad news : The empty Galley in Create was sunk when it attacked the Persian Galley.

Carthage will now give the two smallest cities in Spain in exchange for a cease fire.

The previous emperor did not have an active move on those settlers in route somewhere, guess I'll have to figure out where to send them myself.

Suffering from ads?

Note to the new emperor:

I had a citizen in route to the Fish Pennisula. (Currently on the hill)

Scythia Army trespassing is probably in route to attack the nearby Celt city.

Carthigan Heavy Calvary was bypased in favor of bringing up the capture of Carmonia. (Not quite taken yet.) The Carhigans have their own Fire Catapult there.

A Legionary III is on the Dyes in Cyprus with the intention of roading it. (Was much faster to rush Harbor and Leg III than build a worker)
