Lady Deirdre murdered!
Two days ago, our leader, Lady Deirdre Skye, was found dead in her quarters in Gaia's Landing. She was shot from modified projectile pistol by unknown assailant in her back. She was hit three times by poisoned darts, carrying CRX-66, chemical poison created in 2010s on Earth by Israel. The death followed in matter of seconds and brain damage was too high to attempt cryofreezing. The crime occured sometime around 17:00 GLT on the day of the crime. Preliminary reports show that surveillance system surrounding the chambers was bypassed by experts, and that assailant entered the quarters through hallway connecting Lady Deirdre's quarters to main botanic hall. How he got in and out the main complex is currently unknown.
According to our sources, CSI team commander Antonio Sanchez, they've found DNA of assailant on one of the darts found in Lady Deidre's body. Apparently, expert lab investigation managed to trace several distinct skin cells on the dart, which have been established as belonging to assailant or one of his helpers. DNA found does not match any in our or Unity databanks. Furthermore, darts have been determined to be of foreign origin, due to specific kind of synthmetal they contain, unavailable in Gaian Union teritories. Since interfactional trade and travel is still not developed enough, CSI team points out that assailant must have had support of an outside and powerful group, that would insert him, supply him and organise the whole operation.
Emergency session of the Council of Lords
Today at 14:00 GLT Council of Lords shall start an emergency session due to murder of Lady Deirdre Skye. Death of our faction leader shall discussed, as well as actions taken against assailant and his helpers. Some members of the High Council, have already declared that if they discover that a foreign faction is responsible for this they will strongly support war until complete annihilation of the perpretator faction by all means. It remains to be seen if this will be accepted by the entire Council.
Statements to foreign factions have not yet been issued, but High Council might request their cooperation in tracing the assasins and punishing the one's responsible for this. If faction which may have sent assasin is discovered, we might face prospect of even a global war in future. Others say this was an isolated act associated with an independent outside group, but many tend to think of this as an act of aggression. What is truth, remains to be seen.
Who is in command?
It should be noted that leader of the government since 2102, is Lord Chaos Theory, and as such, he will probably be asked to swear oath as new faction leader. No other candidates are likely for this position, probably related to decreasing number and activity of Lords in the High Council during last decades.
As such, Lord Chaos Theory shall probably unify position of the Chairman of the High Council with that of faction leader. Place of Deputy chairman of the High Council is empty since mysterious disappearance of Lord Smacksim decades ago (which may also be assasination, some say), but in light of recent events and death of Lady Deirdre, this position shall probably be reinstated. Former lord Illuminatus was suggesting Lord BinTravkin for this position long ago, so we expect this to come into being.

This week Week of Sorrow
Gaians are gathering in the center of Gaia's Landing to light a candle for Deirdre despite cold weather
"This week has been declared week of sorrow, to honor memory of our leader. Although she did not get herself involved much into day to day business, she was always our idol and our leader." - said administration department.
People are already gathering in the center of Gaia's Landing to comemorate Deirdre. Police units have been dispatched just in case, but people are mostly crying or lighting candles.
One other Lord, Lord Isac, has suggested renaming the capital base to Deirdre's Memory, to honour her death. Will this come into motion remains to be seen. We can in any case expect many such proposals in future. We are still waiting for reactions from other members of the Council.
Funeral for a hero
Funeral will be held 09-11-2155 in 10:00 GLT in White Pine Park. Members of all religious communities and all base governors are expected to arrive, as well as entire High Council and unconfirmed number of other Lords. Funeral is open for all Gaians, although you should be warned that White Pine Park has limited capacity. Lady Deirdre will be buried under the flag she planted there 55 years ago. A memorial centre is planned to be built later at that site.
Lord Hydro and Lord Darsnan are expected to give speeches at ceremony, as many others will. Holonet shall transmit this event across entire Gaian Union, up to fronts to the north.
What you can do?
High Council now needs your participation more than ever. Return to your posts and fill in new ones. As the conflict with Hive continues and new challenges pop out every day, we need active participation of Gaians in their government more than ever.
Active participation of entire faction in government is now needed, with vision of our leader lost forever. We carry her still in our hearts and it is time to show what are Gaians made for.
Facing the prospect of global war in this troubled times and faced with such terrible tragedy it is time more than ever to prepare for the oncoming events.

No native lifeforms have been harmed in making of this newspaper. No Earth plants or animals have been harmed in making of this newspaper, although victims of colony pod Hope and those died in the Embassy shall be remembered forever.
No Gaian life has been harmed, most of staff is still running naked through the trees (what stamina) and has not yet met the punishment for not submiting promised articles nor shall ever met it due to publisher quitting his job.

The Angels couldn't have done it since they are your and our good friends, the Hive it (surprisingly) wasn't since you are already at war with them (and thus wouldn't be contemplating war against them), and most assuredly it wasn't us or any of our pactmates - we'd know about it.
So, since you are apparently contemplating war with Morgan, I assure you, we will be able to provide you with valuable infiltration data on them should you need it. I must express my surprise over their timing of yet another act of aggression, as they were rapidly closing in on a point where they could have bundled up on their island and build themselves to victory by shrugging off any attack that can be staged with our limited resources.
In this light, their decision to aggravate your wrath already now with such a heinous deed is strange, in essence throwing away victory, but I won't delve into that matter any further. Just give us the word, and we'll help you in any way we can. The death of Lady Skye shall not go unpunished.

We can certainly understand if team inactivity is causing you problems when it comes to decision-making - our team is experiencing a bit of the same troubles. I can only hope this doesn't jeopardize the future of the game. (I'd hate to have to admit that Tassadar was right all along.) |
