On the whole, I'd rather wait for complaints to roll in. There are way too many people on Apolyton to do a hand recount.

We have a differently set of objectives and a correspondingly different definition of "work". Laissez-faire capitalism has proven that it does not work.

I'm sorry but there is one thing I have to say about this.. that's wrong.

Put an end to popups!

Economic Left/Right: -0.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15

The reading on the social scale looks good. I'm just as much a privacy freak as your average Slashdotter, and the only things keeping me from being even lower on the scale are my traditionalist opinions on parenting.

On the economic scale... I think I like to be centrist in theory and the test might pull me a bit to the right, but in practise I like doing things the way I've seen them work, and since I've only ever lived in Finland, that's the way I prefer. -0.38 on Polcomp's scale doesn't look a lot like the Finnish way .

Also, as a few people have already pointed out, this test needs a "mu" answer choice...

At least in 'Poly

There is a general agreement here about social/political freedoms, and you'll see only a small core of posters opposing them. If you had a poll about gay marriage on 'Poly (I think it is a prime example of the authoritarianism scale), how do you think it would compare to a poll taken in the real world?

I find it comforting that even my fellow conservatives aren't loony authoritarians.

It's also interesting to notice that although I'm percieved as a right-winger, I'm only an inch north of Sava on the graph.

I looked on the "election 2004" page of the Political Compass website. Gian is in the same spot as Badnarik (the libertarian guy). What an insult to the Libertarians.

Anyway, aslong as we are doing the Politcal Compass again, we can do this one again:

http://www.orgburo.com/pofoquiz/pofo.php

quote:
Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you a socially-orientated, materialist, small-government, internationalist, protectionist, non-absolutist, controlled-market kind of person.

These characteristics would put you in the overall category of socialist.

Individual vs Social

You scored 82 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social. This means that politically you are more likely to value the need for group actions and group benefit over individual enterprise and benefit.

95% of test takers were more individual than you.
4% of test takers were more social than you.

Theist vs Materialist

You scored 100 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that religion and spirituality are superstitions that should not inform political debate.

100% of test takers were more theist than you.
0% of test takers were more materialist than you.

Big Government vs Small Government

You scored 62 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that government should keep out of legislating social policies, leaving such decisions to individuals.

62% of test takers were more big government than you.
35% of test takers were more small government than you.

Nationalist vs Internationalist

You scored 95 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist. This means that politically you are more likely to favour international bodies over national ones.

99% of test takers were more nationalist than you.
1% of test takers were more internationalist than you.

Protectionist vs Free Trader

You scored 32 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader. This means that politically you are less likely to favour free trade over protectionist policies.

15% of test takers were more protectionist than you.
84% of test takers were more pro free trade than you.

Absolutist vs Non-Absolutist

You scored 79 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist. This means that politically you are less likely to believe that there is an absolute truth that may guide your ideological beliefs.

98% of test takers were more absolutist than you.
1% of test takers were more non-absolutist than you.

Controlled Market vs Liberal Market

You scored 15 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that there is need for government regulation of industry.

11% of test takers were more controlled market thinkers than you.
88% of test takers were more liberal market thinkers than you.

Marxist vs Non-Marxist

You scored 48 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to follow the philosophies of Marx.

47% of test takers were more Marxist than you.
50% of test takers were more non-Marxist than you.
