Can you believe it - Monkey now have Gunpowder!

Either LL (suspected), Tabemono or Sunshine gave this to Monkey, of which LL are not bound by an agreement. Annoying, but legitimate. I'd like to get revenge one day. At least they have no SP.

A few points :

1. Our southern horse has used 1MP. It could hit the warrior, but there could be an Elite NM plus cats on the road. The last thing we want is a Monkey GL. My preferred alternative is to retreat - undignified but spares a possible attack from the warrior, which is probably toast in the long term.

2. Ivory Coast. Now PC is gone we could found that city. Shall we sent a settler back 8 of the stack and found on the hill, or wait for Python to pass and found on the ivory itself?

We can get 20spt in Swindon now at -1fpt. This turns worker from BC could add to Swindon next turn for stable 20spt. Nice for cats, longbows or wonders!

I'll do a unit report so we can see what we want. I'm tempted to just keep building units till Monkey are banished, then join forces with someone Over There and go and pay back whoever's been helping our foe.

The 10 spears and the 10 LB will be finished in 3 turns, and by the time they get to SF 10 cats can be there too.

So, we'll have our 30 unit force at SF in about 8 turns. By that time we'll have gold for 10-12 Spear-->Musket upgrades. Also by that time, we can build a load more units. What should we go for - more cats and LB to defenders perhaps?

further thoughts ...

Trip advised Monkey in public to take the course they seem to be taking - on the basis that it is in his (and all those teams) interest to do so. Last turn SS didn't have Gunpowder, but they'd have got it before Monkey's turn this time round, and could have sent it.

In the end I moved the settler 8 and kept the West Watch horses back. Stack continues south.

Whatever city we found on or near the ivory will be a temporary city, so I'd say it should be founded on the hill (no need to worry about getting it on the lake for free aqueduct). That territory will go to Python eventually. I just think we ought to get what lux benifit we can pronto. Monkey isn't allowing us the opportunity to use combat settlers anyway, so it's really the best use we have for a settler.

We should probably discuss with Python, however, and figure out which team would gain more tangible benifit from the luxury supply. For now and the foreseable future, our teams are basically joined at the hip, and as such if the luxury benifits their economy more, I have no issue with letting them have it.

Since Monkey is running away, we can be sure that in a relatively short timeframe, we will gain possession of the other ivory sources, and there will be enough for us both.

By the way, sorry for not commenting earlier. I was on a brief (but annoying) business trip. It ate up most of the last two days.
