I hated her back in the summer...long before SNL. I just really don't like it when some people get so much because of their family and others get little.

Technology can make many bad singers sound much better, they have far more than volume to alter. Just because "somebody" likes her altered pre-recorded noise doesn't mean the Orange Bowl crowd cannot tell her what they think of her real life yelling sound torture.

Rosanne Barr also sang off tune also at a baseball game and was properly booed. This isn't the 1st time someone's booed at a sports event in the world. If you don't want to give your opinion of the performance then you can be quiet. If Ashlee didn't want to risk a booing at a sports event then she shouldn't have went. She is the music industry and should be well aware that some crowds will be more vocal about her singing than others. This wasn't the IceCapades or a wedding of a royal family.

Having a bad voice is not necessarily a lifelong sentence.

George Harrison used to be a terrible singer. George Martin had to double track his voice on early Beatles records IIRC.

But from that he developed into a decent singer, with the most pleasing voice of the a any of the Beatles IMHO (**** Paul).

The SNL dance clip is awesome, even the second time.

GePap: I assume you already refuse to buy new albums unless you have heard the singer and know s/he has talent? That's about all you can do, except for abusing Kazaa or whichever music-piracy service is big at the moment. Since music is not a necessity but a luxury, the strategy you described is only a delaying tactic. Eventually people get sick of it.

The local oldies station in my area was recently reorganized by Clear Channel. They fired a bunch of old favorite DJs and started playing more recent tunes for some fool reason. I don't mean like actual modern songs, but they switched to mostly playing Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles instead of the Motown and early rock they'd been playing.

The net effect so far is that they lost a bunch of their old listeners, and the few people out there who like Fleetwood Mac aren't tuning in because they already have stations they like. And of course the new DJs are obnoxious and stupid, so anyone who doesn't miss Bill Haley still misses the old hands, so everyone dislikes the new station image. I think they won't be happy with the eventual profits of their hip new reinvention. Serves them right, the buggers.
