Does the Forbidden Palace help in culture flips? Increase Your PM Length

Okay, I know that the civilopedia says you get the benefits of a seocnd palace, but is this just corruption wise? Or if I build it along a border with someone are they more likely to culture flip too?

Got spare money?

Except for the couple of extra culture points, the FP isn't usefull for preventing or provoking flips.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Unlike the palace a FP city itself can flip.

Put an end to popups!

Actually, capital cities can flip also, someone posted one a while back.

Well, having a FP generates culture in both itself and globally just like every other cultural building, so it does marginally help.

But no, distance to FP isn't used in the flip formula.

No, capital cities can never flip. Where did you hear this?

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. It's in these forums somewhere, but the search isn't working for me right now.

I just did a few searches of my own and could not find anything to confirm your claim. Maybe you saw it on CFC?

Until you can show us a screenshot or savegame, I'm afraid no one will believe you.

I think I've heard of it too previously, never saw any evidence to back-it up though.

I don't believe it. Everything Firaxis has told us says it's completely impossible.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

It was definitely on poly as I don't visit the fanatics site. The post had screenshots and everything. As I recall, one civ was getting rolled over when it's capital moved and then flipped. I'm guessing that the ai was in facism and the palace wasn't producing any culture or the palace was destroyed by arty fire. I can't think of any good way to test this, unfortunately. I tried with a saved game, but the ai refused to take my bait cities and just razed them.

And Kuciwalker, you believe Firaxis?!?!?!?

When Firaxis provides explicit formulas, yes.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

I thought the formula that Firaxis showed would result in a division by 0 error against the capital. So they must have left out the mechnism they use to keep the game from crashing.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

The distance-to-place multiplier is capped and floored at 4 and 0.25, so unless there's some specific check to stop Capitals from flipping, it should be possible.
