Well, Paddy the big differences in this one are that:

1. France has not surrendered to the Germans, (and actually still have 2 cities in France)

2. USSR declared war on Germany early.

An interesting development, and although the USSR took a few hits early, the decision has kept the war open on two fronts, helping protect France.

quote:

3. Spain joined the AXIS powers early.

A bit cheeky of them. Although it should be noted that peace has been sucessfully negotiated with the USSR for the first time since the declaration of war.

quote:

4. Turkey / Protogual / Sweeden declared war on both Germany and USSR.

Shifty Swedes! And what are they thinking declaring war on both sides.

quote:

5. UK kicked AXIS out of Egypt early. [In large part, because the Germans did not back up the Italains there]

The significance is that Italy has lost it's oil supply.

6. Allies landed in occuplied France several years early.

This must be because Germany didn't start the battle of Britain. The German air force has had little impact so far.

Anyways, I think the game could be a few suprises left yet....

Sorry, forgot to email it.

No battle report really. Killed a german sub in the atlantic. Killed a fighter with a bomber. Lots of troop movement. Lots of bombing, both arial and with naval units.

Marines in 1 or 2 turns, I forget.

I would really appreciate if you guys started giving more specific reports about your bombing activity. The land is full of craters now, and just teling me you bombed does not do it anymore. Even more so if you fail to mention any losses on any side...

March sent to USSR

Germany:
Bombed the ALuminum near Masellis, discovered a worker, miss.

Naval Bombardment of Marsellis, knocked 1 HP off the Panzer.

Italy: Bomber disconnected the spice luxary in Northern Italy.

Edit: Now that Germany has the turn, made peace with Spain and signed an alliance with Spain against both Germany and Italy at the beginning of the turn.

Immedately remobilized my economy.

There is a problem with the save. I played 4 times. Each time, about 1/2 way through my turn, the game crashes. I played different order of units, I tried different things. I cannot get it to work. Perhaps a resend is needed?

Thanks Soltz.

Still the same bug. About half way through the turn, the game crashes and exits to windows.

I tried doing all sorts of things inside the save. Doing things in different orders, and so forth. It isn't anything I can think of inside the game itself, as it is different actions that cause the crash. One time it is moving units, then next city management. Nothing is consistant except the timing. I estimate that I am about half way through doing things for what I would normally do in my turn. It isn't even tied into the RND, as such things as adjusting work forces doesn't change the RND.

I am stumpted. If someone wants to try my turn, feel free to do so. Password is "godking".

Hey GK, try first canceling out any stacked automatic movement orders; I've had the game crash on me when a stack hit an invisible unit.

The other list is standard: turn off all animations, sounds, make sure you have lots of free space on your hard drive and also have rebooted your computer since the last time civ3 crashed.

Like Jon says, try deactivating any and all orders for units that have Active status. I mean literally clicking on all of them, including moved ones, and Workers.

If you are toying with Specialists, make sure you have the right popheads graphics that include Civil Engineers. If you do not, the game will crash when you click on an Entertainer to try and change him into some other Specialist.

If it doesn't work, I vote we let the French play the turn. But get Godking to send a list of orders.

It sounds to me like it could be just running out of memory. Just due to the random nature of events. Do you have enough free hard disk space?.

Also, go into Control Panel / System / Advanced and find the virtual memory settings, and allocate some more. I know some versions of WinXP have come with default values that are much too low. Try minumum as 1024 and max as about 4GB. This will make sure the game has plenty of room to move memory wise.

Anyways, just a thought.

Ok, God King has no automatic orders. (Verified by cyling thru all units)

I couldn't get it to crash for me. Must be a virtual memory thing.

Hum, I may know a bit too much about the defenses of Tripoli to actually give orders for real.

I think it's fair to say that the English and French are allies and are sharing most information. Hence, as I said, Im happy for the French to play this turn to get it moving again. However I think it would be best if the English gave a basic list of orders/plans.

Anyways, if the save is not corrupted, then maybe Godking can get it working.

It's been a couple of weeks now so I'd like to see it get moving again.
