Ahhhh, but I haven't been restricted. I'm just looking out for my peeps who HAD been restricted and for the Demo Games in general. I'll do all I can to keep them running smoothly, and unexpectedly having Ministers and Consuls being banned, even for 24 hours, could be quite frustrating.

I know this site is a Despotism, but it is mostly a benevolent Despotism. And I'm hoping this sort of benevloence can be digested by the gOdZ and considered.

Because you'll also see less and less of those posting on-topic stories for the already somewhat dull public demogame forums. Heck, the PTWDG (the one I participate in) would be utterly stale if it weren't for threads like the one UnO posted which got him banned.

So, if someone makes a Star Wars mod in Civ and posts a Star Wars pic, that's not accepted? You also cover the now-defunct game Dinosaurs. If I uploaded a pic of a Brontosaurus, would that not be accepted either?

It is YOUR responsibility to contact the owners to explain your uploads if you think there might be some confusion. The owners don't have the time or inclination to follow every thread posted. They base it on what is obvious... The owners have better things to do and their time is better spent doing more important things for this site. It takes a person a minute or two to send a single PM to the owners... no real effort required. But no, you seem to be demanding that the owners do it to tons of rules breakers just because somebody is too lazy to send a single PM. The majority of upload violations have absolutely nothing to do with a demogames. Yes, sometimes a few do... but the majority don't. But you seem to want the owners to waste the time, when the solution is far easier...

Just send a short PM if you think there is going to be a problem. Is that too much to ask of people who are enjoying this site because of all the hard work the owners do for us?

There is no battle

This is a private site, and the owners make the rules. They can do as they wish. And if people don't like it, they can always find another site

It's a shame that some people think the owners should do all the work, when all it would take is a minute on their own part. It comes down to responsibility, and it's sad that some people find it easier to whine and complain about unfairness, instead of dealing with reality

This thread is getting abit old, but as I just saw it, just saying my few cents.

Nobody has said you can only upload to ACS. If you upload something, you should understand that you take all the possible responsebilities, as you agree with the ToS/AUP for the service. If you want to get files hosted, you can always look elsewhere. There's free hosting solutions and very cheap paid hosting solutions, starting around a buck per month. If you can't pay or don't want to lift a finger to find something free, then quite the crap and obey.

Well, it's not "open-source" but rather "open-code" (or something like that, forget the term) which means people can mod the PHP as they wish. So yes, it is a possibility.

Even when you are banned, you can still send PMs. So it's not that tough for people who have been given a ban and still have to make an important post in a demo game or whatever to either just PM their potential post to someone they trust who is playing, or swap e-mails with another (again trustworthy) poster who can post whatever it is they wanted to post. Of course, this could lead to accusations of spamming by these trustworthy posters, who are making their own, and someone else's posts, but it would have to get ridiculous for that to happen. Single-line posts aren't worth sending a PM for, and it's unlikely that the recipient could be bothered to post them, but if you've got a .sav or whatever, to post, then you can e-mail it and have someone else post it for you.

I feel that the single biggest factor in the reduction of "upload abuse" is the fact that attachments are now allowed in private forums. So for people posting stories in the democracy games, pictures that would get them banned if uploaded can be attached and everyone is happy.

Don't know if this still holds true but I know that when banned you could still posts in the Demo games.

No, I got a warning from rah for some spamming or something in a thread. I then apologized in that very thread, as I don't like to break rules. rah understood that, but had to take some kind of action nevertheless. So I got a 10 post pcr.
