Idealogies of Faction Leaders.. Enter the AD-FREE zone

So I found this cool site...

www.politicalcompass.org

And I was wondering how the faction leaders of SMAC and SMAX would fit in. I don't know how to make a link, so you'll have to type it in. But anyway, the site has this test that can evaluate your political and economical idealogy. Take the test and look at the given chart so you understand it.

I was just wondering where the faction leaders would appear on the chart, your opinions please...

Hmm.

I'm 7.88 left and 6.15 anarchist (-7.88;-6.15)

This puts me in the same field as Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama and Ghandi.

I am not displeased with this result.

And since I'd probably be there with Deirdre and Roze as well you might even go so far as to say that I am most certainly not displeased.

Got spare money?

I've thought about this one before.

Yang: Clearly an authoritarian and commie, this would place him around -8,4. (He's a dictator but not power hungry like Miriam or Santiago.)

Dee: A leftie big on freedom, somewhere around -9,-6.

Morgan: Three words, Right Wing Lunatic. Somewhere around 8,2.

Lal: I don't believe Lal does love freedom, he just pretends to. Quite definitely does believe in the use of force. Maybe 3,1 or so.

Miriam: Oh look, a fascist. Hard to say where her economics lie but probably to the right (it goes with the stereotype ). Maybe 2,7.

Santiago: An iron fist dictator! Hard to gauge on economics, the creche blurb almost suggests commie, -2,9.

Zak: I don't think science tends to any politics, but I've always thought of the university as social darwinists. Maybe -2, 4.

SMACX Faction:

Roze: Not hard! She's way down the anarchist scale, hard to gauge on economics, probably fairly neutral. 0, -9.

Sven: I think Sven has a different ideology to the Pirate faction, the pirates themselves seem quite anarchist, but Sven seems to be the iron fist ruler type.

Aki: I don't think the algorithm bothers with politics. 0,0. (the faction probably enjoys perfect co-operation which would make them very lefty, but I say they actually transcend conventional ideology, especially political. Essentially the hive mind is one individual with many bodies, what use for politics or economics?)

Domai: Domai himself is probably at odds with the Drones faction. Seems to be quite the dictator. -3, 5.
(Note: Although the drone faction was founded as a socialist utopia it seems more likely it would end up with a capitalist system, because most the drones probably ARE very willing to be told what to do…)

Cha Dawn: A Green dictator, funny little creature. -7, 6.

Feel free to disagree

Note that on the compass I'm at nearly exactly the same place as Ghandi (that is, bottom left), altough I can't remember the exact numbers, I think it's around -6,-4.

According to the website, the most common political areas that people are located in are the top right and bottom left. Then there are those few dictators that are in the top left, and the least populated region, the bottom right, where I appear...great, now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing I'm an anarchist...

It goes into more detail, perhaps, but it's less easily understood on a simple left/right basis. I mean, according to that I'm a socially-orientated, internationalist, free-trade, non-absolutist, controlled-market kind of person.

It's a bit more difficult connecting these ideals to any of the SMAC/X factions.
Except perhaps Morgan and his free-trade (though not the controlled-market).

There are a good many of us actually, only 54% of the country voted for Bush. Have you seen the next jib-jab absolutly hilarious. Especially love Bush writing on the constitution with a crayon. The other 46% of the country absolutly hate him and think the 54% that voted for him are total idiots we are a very very divided country currently which isn't good either last time this happend it lead to a civil war.

Norway and Scotland though incredibly beautiful I think might be a little to socialist for me. I'm a green but I'm not a socialist green (compaines should be forced to be as clean as possible gas should be taxed incredibly and public transportaion supported but health care and higher education are not rights). Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you a socially-orientated, materialist, internationalist, protectionist, controlled-market kind of person, who also seems quite Marxist.

These characteristics would put you in the overall category of Marxist. Your natural home at PoliticsForum would be the Communism area.

Below, on this page, is an analysis of the (up to) eight categories that you were sorted into above, and an explanation of how you scored on the eight scales used to determine these categorisations.

The pages following this one show the breakdown of results for all participants on each question. You can freely navigate through the pages by using the hyperlinks in the top right of each page.

HEhe

This quiz is not as good as the Political compass in my opinion, because the questions are always oriented question that lead you to subjectivity.
But that was nice to see lot of details, wich were almost true.

But Kyoto treaty is good for USA, and that was very subjective to say that wasnt good for it. Since it was not good only for petrol and coals industry mostly, wich is the number 1 source of energy in usa. not good for rich people only. Like president of ESSO or other ****.

They also have a false idea of communism in my view...

Bad questions, not enough neutral, not very scientific...

political compass was made by a group of independant scientist based in UK.

The questions are also better in my opinion.

But that was nice too.

PS : specially liked this one :

You scored 3 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader. This means that politically you are less likely to favour free trade over protectionist policies.

1% of test takers were more protectionist than you.
99% of test takers were more pro free trade than you.

Maybe my futur degree in politics, is making me thinking like that.

One day, I'm going to start believing these sites and go rogue or something...

Individual vs. Social
16 out of 100
2% test takers are more individual

Theist vs. Materialist
87 out of 100
7% are more materialist

Big Gov vs. Small Gov
100 out of 100
0% more small gov

Nationalist vs. Internationalist
19 out of 100
3% more nationalist

Protectionist vs. Free Trader
100 out of 100
0% more pro free trade

Absolutist vs. Non-absolutist
53 out of 100
34% more absolutist

Controlled Market vs. Liberal Market
99 out of 100
1% more liberal

Marxist vs. Non-marxist
42 out of 100
31% more marxist

Roze and Morgan would be proud...

Yang would probably shoot me...

Our dear lady of the tree-hugging people would probably go insane...

And about the aliens, they'd, well, I don't know what they'd do...I probably don't want to either, it could be like anal probing or something like that that only stupid butt-ugly aliens would do...

Economic Left/Right: -7.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.23

and the quiz Maniac suggested labeled me as a "Marxist" which I agree I am not far off from, but.....

  1. I don't believe in government ownership of industry.
  2. My Government size score was 60% toward small government. I am not for big government.
  3. For the most part I believe in Market Theory.
  4. I don't believe in the equal distribution of wealth.
  5. I don't even believe that a direct democrasy will lead to better, more moral government.

OTOH.....

  1. I do believe industries are destructively self-centered and must be regulated to prevent worker and enviromental abuses.
  2. Basic utillies (water, power, heating, but not say, telecom) should be either run by the governement or at least highly regulated to avoid price gouging.
  3. Every citizen in a nation as wealthy as the USA should get basic health care, public schools
  4. I believe increased income should be an incentive for productivity, as long as the taxes increase as well (sliding scale tax)
  5. Trade protectionism has its place and time to protect domestic jobs. Cheaper consumer imports wont do the unemployed any good.

I even believe in classic conservative economic belief that you don't spend more than you make, even if some social programs must be cut.

So what is it? Am I a Marxist or just generally left of center or something else? I guess i can't even tell anymore.

Really? I consider it easier. With only two axises as in the Compass many factions would resemble each other.

The original seven for example:

Gaia:
Social Theist (Planet) Small Government Factionalist Protectionist Controlled Market

Hive:
Social Materialist Big Government Factionalist Protectionist Controlled Market Marxist

University:
Individual Materialist Interfactionalist (free info flow) Absolutist (science)

Believers:
Social Theist Big Government Absolutist

Morgan:
Individual Materialist Small Government Interfactionalist Free Trader Liberal Market Non-Marxist

Sparta:
Individual Materialist Factionalist Non-absolutist (might makes right)

Peacekeepers:
Social Interfactionalist (united humany) Absolutist (human rights)

Thanks

That is basically what I have thought. I identify so much with Europe politically, I have considered moving there. But I feel it is my duty to stay in the US if nothing else to try to moderate its recent conservative swell. It like we have regressed 500 years into the past around here.
I don't exepect all Americans to fully understand my views, and I understand that after being attacked a country's natural reaction is to shift to the right, even I was looking for blood after 9/11; but the current political climate here is dangerous not only to Americans, but to the whole world.

Whoa, Howard Dead is hardly that leftist, believe me I wish he was. Perhaps you were thinking of Nader? I like both men, especially Nader. That man is my hero, he is so incorrputable he doesn't own a car, or credit cards. Not having a car in California is a major pain in the asscott. I wish I was so strong to go without. Unfortunately America is entirely too right wing anymore for him to have a chance at politic office

Oh and I can't stand Liberman, he represents all that is wrong with the left. Racial politics have been dead since the late 80's, and he'll go on an on about how oppressed the blacks and jews are. BS, there is no more race war in America, it is all about economics now. Not white vs. black, but rich vs. poor

Heh personally I can't stand Nadar or Dean though you should look at dean again based on what you said above he supports most of your polices. Have not heard Liberman go on about race war but I do think part of the problem is still black vs white. Simply because the percentage of black people that are poor is so much higher than the percentage of white people. Sorry you don't like him (though I am not surprised) I do agree with you that we have swung way to far to the right but europe and Canada is way to economicly left for me. Socialism takes away to much of the incentive to work. That is just my opinon however intelligent well meaning people can disagree. I understand the beef with cars I use public transportation every chance I get, though since I live in North Carolina it is rather difficult. What is his beef with credit cards? I have two don't carry a balance on them however (that's just economic suicide). Nadar and the green party are way to socialist for me and anti free trade for that matter.

Theyre all parodies, more or less, of current ideologies of the late 90s when the game was made.

Yang is "asian" system authoritarian, an extreme version of Lee Kuan Yew(sp?) and other advocates of a unique asian alternative to democracy. Kinda out of fashion after the '98 financial crisis.

Dee: Greenie - well D'oh

Morgan: business conservative - a parody of Univ of Chicago economics.

Lal: Mainstream US-UK liberalism

Miriam: Christian Right. This game was made when these folks had emerged very fast into the public eye, and these guys were going hard after Clinton.

Santiago: Survivalist - think Ruby Ridge, think Y2K nuts, think the US militia movement.

Zak: Miriams foil - knowledge above all - one of the few factions in the original game not based on contemporary politics.

[/QUOTE]

Miriam and Morgan, and to a lesser extent Santiago, are personifications of the forces behind Newt Gingrich, who obviously didnt make Brian feel all warm and fuzzy.
