Well, eh, Herc, you did lose all your planets... but in doing so you spared your fleet, which I'm sure you'll see to be a wise move.

Joncha was paying Herc a visit with his entire force. With no defense in sight, he prepared to launch the ground war.

Just then, a wormhole opened and 41 dreadnaughts came bearing down, lasers blazing. Spaced Cowboy had joined the party.

While somewhat outnumbered, Spaced's superior tactics allow him to devastate the enemy fleet. Joncha was wise enough to back off, however.

Joncha's no fool with lasers either though- his lasers shred all but one of Spaced's carriers, leaving Spaced's unbalanced fleet quite vulnerable.

Spaced is dead. Once he has to pick torpedoes, Joncha will destroy him.

but with both of them spread out, Spaced 0 Torpedos are halved to 0, while Joncha's are cut in half, so he may yet have a chance if his lack of Torpedo's can survive until the next round of Lasers (Spaced) versus Fighters (Joncha).

With little firepower left, even Spaced's tactical genius couldn't save him. Although his fighter pilots put up a valiant defence in which they outfought the enemy 8 to 1, Joncha's sheer overwhelming numbers allowed some of his torpedoes to hit Spaced's spread out fleet.

Torpedoes against lasers- a wise strategy. Though there's only so much strategy can do for a Spaced Cowboy with an empty revolver.

Joncha takes another torpedo potshot. At this point the battle is neck-to-neck: Spaced has lost 186 tons to Joncha's 196. Spaced orders his captains to fight to the death. Many will.

Finally, with his surviving lasers recharged, the Cowboy prepares to ride off into many a starset with both guns blazing. To his pleasant surprise, his adversary returns no fire as he pummels the enemy fleet.

Satisfaction is finally earned as another laser barrage just barely manages to finish off Joncha. But it's not quite over yet.

With a final blow, Joncha's lasers fry all but one squadron of Spaced's dreadnaughts.

Victorious, Spaced's five surviving Overlord class ships pick up the few survivors and then proceed to the grim business of occupying Hercules' former bases.

A total of 370 tons of shipping, nearly half the tonnage in the galaxy, was annihilated in the bloodiest battle to date. What had been the two largest fleets in the galaxy were now reduced to fourth place status in the case of Spaced, and complete defeat in the case of Joncha.

Battles are fought in round of three, so even though Joncha's fleet was destroyed, there was still one round left, (as Smiley indicates above) where Joncha's "remaining" lasers, decimate what was left of Spaced's fleet.

Needless to say the galactic economy took a big hit. Production is at an all time low, while fleet size hasn't been this small since Year 3. The number of homeworlds now totals 16, which is less than the total number of Overlords to begin the war.

On the bright side, one new base was built by the Scots, who like the other two Overlords Gamecube and Sandman, chose to refrain from any sort of aggressive behavior this round. Not one of the three even built shipping.

Seeing how fleets are now even more heavily weighted towards lasers, I see even more carnage in the near future.
