Hello,
I was having a problem and while I can kind of fix it, I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of exactly what it is about my computer that causes it to crash? My problem is that SMACX crashes during the AI's turn when one of my interceptors scrambles to defend.
But I can play SMACX and *not* have it CTD (when an interceptor scrambles) when I start my computer in safe mode and then run SCACX. So the CTD is not a bug in the program but must be some device conflict or something on my end becauser I don't get a interceptor crash running SMACX in safemode. My question is what exactly could it be on my end that is causing the CTD?
Some of my specs..
-Windows XP
-P4 2.66 processor
-512 MB mem
-Radeon 9000 video card (64 MB)
-Logitech MX 510 optical mouse
-not sure on my sound card because it is built into my computer...
Just wondering if anyone who has my problem and a similar rig has found a solution (besides going to safe mode)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes I DLed and ran the winXP compatibility patch but I have yet to play a full new game with the winXP compatibility patch.
What I mean is that I installed the winXP compatibility patch but continued playing with a saved game that I had started pre-patch.
I wonder if I started a new game would I still get the interceptor crash? Guess I'll find out as soon as I finish my present game.
BTW about the mouse drivers. Does anyone have a mouse like mine? (Logitech MX 510 optical) Because I can't quite fiques out how to disable mine. I don't see a "point32" when I ctl-alt-del and bring up that box and also I can't figure out a way to disable the middle mouse button through the Logitech mouse properties screen.
