I think it's no more updated. Probably abandonned. Since this game is now 6 years old.

SMAX was realeased 1 or two years after SMAC ?

The download links start with "www.firaxis", I edited that in the address bar to say "devftp.firaxis" and

I didn't try all the downloads, but I got the scenarios at least...

I found that the wallpapers downloaded without any changes, but they have a permission page in between, so those links are coded differently.

What is the difference ?

The http://devftp.firaxis.com/smac/ goes right to the SMAC page, but in the Downloads section, if you just click on the links you get "page not found" because those links start with "www.firaxis.com" instead of "devftp.firaxis.com".

Sooo, for example, to download the "Fight for the Boreholes Scenario", if you click the link on their page:

http://www.firaxis.com/files/filedetail.cfm?file_id=2
then you get the "file not found page", but editing that in the address bar to
http://devftp.firaxis.com/files/filedetail.cfm?file_id=2
gets ya to the *second* page to pick the language. There the English link points to
http://www.firaxis.com/downloads/scenario/borehole.exe
which when edited to http://devftp.firaxis.com/downloads...io/borehole.exe
will actually finally begin the download, whee

The 2nd scenario is at http://devftp.firaxis.com/downloads...io/borehole.exe if you want the English one. If you need the other languages, you'll have to go through the steps above and edit it in the browser address bar.

Same edits to get the SMAX patch and the SMAC 4.0 patch, buuut trying for the 3.0 patch goes to a "badfile" page listing all the files on the devftp file area, including some SMACMAC stuff, and stuff for other firaxis games: http://devftp.firaxis.com/downloads...cfm?msg=badfile

maybe they didn't forget about their first game anyways.

As they say, the first is always the best. Although I hope not. It would be nice if they could put out another game as good as SMAC.

SMAC was not their first game. Before it we had Sid Meier's Gettysburg and Sid Meier's Antietam.

really? I thought those games were released after SMAC.
