That's true. AvP is the only time I've ever actually shouted out in fear... in a dark room with the sound up, it was absolutely terrifying.
Come to think of it, there was an - AGH! - moment in System Shock 2. I was playing minesweeper on the little handheld PDA thing you can find, and suddenly a zombie crept up behind me and started wacking me on the back of the head. I was so identified with playing the game, inside the game, that it gave me a real fright - it felt like the zombie was actually behind me while I sat at the computer. (Zombie, undead crew member, Many, whatever)
I wish AvP had a skirmish mode like UT or Starcraft. That would make it truly ace.
