C3CDG: Speeding Up the Game Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

This is a combo-voting-thread for all of the ways we have of speeding up the game through unit manipulation slash AP.

Options are:

AP: Yes/No
Starting Settlers: 1,2,3,4,6 (5 is just wrong. )
Starting Warriors: 1,2,3,4,6
Starting Workers: 1,2,3,4,6
Starting Water: 60%/70%/80% water
Starting Map: small/normal map

One other thing I'll throw in there: to specifically speed up the midgame (where most combat occurs), we can consider reducing musketeer costs to 50 shields (from 60). It's something many have considered doing anyways (as musketeers cost too much for what they do compared to pikemen). I'm not suggesting it seperately, but if you like the idea say so in this thread.

A single choice in each of these describing your ultimate game would be what is asked for here (remember, team leaders only posting votes; please poll your team).

A majority (4 votes) means that single setting wins out.

A near majority (3 votes) wins unless the other 3 votes are all in one direction, in which case one step to that direction is suggested as a compromise, subject to approval (ie if 3 vote for "2 settlers" 2 vote for "4 settlers" and 1 votes for "6 settlers" a post will be made asking if "3 settlers" is acceptable to a majority; but if 3 vote for "2 settlers", 2 vote for "6 settlers", and 1 votes for "1 settler", then 2 settlers wins directly).

If no majority is reached at all (2 votes or less in each of 3 categories or more) then either a reasonable compromise is looked at as a group, or we do a runoff between fewer categories.

Oh, and write-in votes are allowed, as long as they're serious. I decree no bananas here please, unless you're part of team banana and really want to abstain.

Sound good?

Team leaders: (AP, set,work,war,map,water)
Snoopy369: NO, 6,3,3,small,60
Paddy:
Beta: NO, 2,2,2,small,60
Conqueror: NO, 2,2,2,small,60
Aqualung: NO, 3,3,2,small, 80
Scaeva:

Votes: No, 2 or 3 settlers, 2 or 3 workers, 2 warriors, small-60% water.

Given that Musketmen are defensive units, I think that reducing their cost would slow down the midgame, not speed it up.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

I would think it would allow you to spend less on defensive units and more on offensive ... but perhaps I be wrong, i haven't actually played a PBEM game with this. (I was also going to suggest decreasing the cost of Cavalry, but thought I would be laughed at ... )

I'd favour to leave the game as it is. If we want to make adjustments, there's been talked about a PBEM mod, those threads would be the place to discuss those issues, instead of having it in two locations. Furthermore there's been put a lot of (balancing) work (I know, towards the AI) in the AU mod too.

small map and 80% water.
3 settlers, 3 workers and no warriors has my vote.

2 settlers, two workers, two warriors. The Dominae starter pack.

No mods to the game or unit costs. We will be here forever.

And the % water depends on the map size. But I think 60% is the continent shape we are looking for. Probably a standard map with 6 civs, or maybe small using 60%. Dom will know best.

No to AP, btw.

I think NO to AP is a good choise.

Dont prefer much starting units, 2 of each is the maximum, i think.

Oh yes, and no adjustments to unit costs, if possible.

small 60 % ?

Suffering from ads?

on a small map with 6 players/teams: not more than 3 settlers and 3 workers. 0-1 warrior.

expansionistic civs get 1-2 scouts (my preference: 1)
