Mindlessness. You display it perfectly.

The man has had four heart attacks I believe. And he didn't do much campaigning. He's behind the scenes. And he isn't exactly the one directing the war, but is part of it.

You need help, dude. Your beliefs are getting in the way of common logic.

Although... I do have to ask why he is in the office if he can't do the job. If Bush had a sudden heart attack, Cheney would be the one to step in, but he doesn't seem capable of doing the job.

Speaker of the House is 3. Who is 4? You might just need that person if 1 goes since 2 seems to be very fragile.

He has had health check-ups, and his health is pretty much in the top 1% for his age bracket.

I'm sure you don't see the irony in your feeble insults, Fez. The real Fes was a master of it, but he couldn't see it either. He just WAS it. You too.

No one has yet offered any rationale for the connection betwwen Biggus Dickus dressing like Bob or Doug McKenzie, and protecting himself from a heart attack. As I've pointed out, there ARE warm clothes that would have been suitable. Did he really have to wear hiking boots? But hey, if you're not concerned about how he represents you, who am I to criticize? He's your vice president. I just wonder, what would you say if it had been Al Gore?

You don't have justification for your statements. Cheney has a health history, and if he wants to be warm in a blistering cold he should be allowed. Sheesh what the hell is wrong with that?

Yep. That is another fact lost on the people making a big deal out of this.

I confess when I first saw him, I too thought;

'Good grief, wtf are you wearing? It's a solemn commemoration, not a fishing trip...'

And then I thought- 'he's there, he's had major heart surgery, he's American. He's absolved from issues relating to dress sense and good taste.' ( )

But seriously- so he looked different from the Eurocom leaders- big hairy deal. He wasn't wearing a clown suit or a swastika-endowed fancy dress uniform.

The dead don't care what he was wearing, and if the survivors and relatives of the survivors don't care either, then for once Lon Cheney is o.k. by me.

You who live safe
In your warm houses,
You who find, returning in the evening,
Hot food and friendly faces:
Consider if this is a man
Who works in the mud
Who does not know peace
Who fights for a scrap of bread
Who dies because of a yes or no.
Consider if this is a woman,
Without hair and without name
With no more strength to remember,
Her eyes empty and her womb cold
Like a frog in winter.
Meditate that this came about :
I commend these words to you.
Carve them in your hearts
At home, in the street,
Going to bed, rising;
Repeat them to your children,
Or may your house fall apart,
May illness impede you,
May your children turn their faces from you.

Primo Levi: If this is a man

Cheney at least showed up, in bitter, sub-zero temperatures to bear witness to mass murder and suffering- millions of people around the world in warm houses, with hot food, comfortable and safe, will not have given the day and the events it recalls a moment's thought.

nye raises an interesting point. Why has Bush elected Cheney as VP for yet another turn when he is well aware of his medical condition? Surely there must be other members os his administration who are just as qualified? Condoleeza for instance Edit: D´oh! nye already made that joke...

How many "liberal Commies" in this thread have criticized Cheney for his clothes, in comparison of those who have dismissed this criticism as irrelevant/stupid ?

From the article...

quote:
The Post's Givhan said Cheney might have been hoping to avoid the cold weather in Oswiecim, but noted he had worn a dark overcoat and no hat at all at another recent winter occasion -- his own swearing-in ceremony on Inauguration Day on Jan. 20 in snow-dusted Washington.

"The vice president might have been warm in his parka, ski cap and hiking boots," Givhan said. "But they had the unfortunate effect of suggesting he was more concerned with his own comfort than the reason for braving the cold at all."

Huh?

You limousine liberals with your French barbers, fashion experts and male make-up just don't get the point of this visit, do you?

Cheney, an old man with severe health problems, travelled tens of thousands of miles just to show his compassion, offer his prayers to all holocaust victims, and you idiots start yelling at him because you didn't like his dress? Perhaps if you would've known any survivors of these death camps you'd actually understand what sacred, joint moment of silence among world leaders was all about.

Hint: It wasn't about fancy-ass suits or sharing your stylist tips, hippies.
