Our secret kebab!) for 5 euros and that's HUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Pizzas go usually for 5 euros and kebab meals in a real plate and all that, gos for less than 5 euros in lunch time. They have the greatest deals. No one can compete with their prices.

So I sometiems grab myself one of those.

Crap over 7 euros for a big mac meal? That's very expensive. I dunno how much it runs for here in the US, cause I don't much like mcdonalds, but more like 5 something.

For 7 euros i certainly don't blame you for going elsewhere. That's crappy.

I only go to McDonalds when I don't have other options. Even then I just get stuff off their dollar menu, mcchicken or double cheeseburger. Comparing either of those things to what you can get at Wendys for a dollar is crazy. Wendy's has an amazing dollar menu, they rock. baked potato, caesar salad, garden salad, chili, jr. bacon cheeseburger, jr. cheeseburger deluxe, 5 piece nugget, all for .99 cents each!

Crap, I really just named everything on their damn dollar menu. I'm sad.

When I went to Paris on vacation, I could not find any place to give a big full breakfast like I enjoy in US. Croque Monsieur at any pastiserrie is very good, but not filling. And many Paris restaurants serve "American Breakfast" but this is not enough food for me in the morning. So, McDonalds serves enough of my type of breakfast food at a much cheaper price.. Breakfasts at Paris McDonalds helped to reduce the cost of my trip.... But I would not consider eating McDonalds for lunch or dinner in Paris when there are so many other fine dining opportunities in that great city..

Tired of ads?

I'm a little surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: Super Size Me

I went off fast food for a couple of months after seeing this movie. Not that I ate it frequently to begin with, but now I'm down to maybe once every 2-3 months.

I love Los Angeles. Cheap food. I can go eat at a nice Chinese restaurant and pay $4-$5 dollars (plate of food, soup, salad and drink). That's approximately 3 Euros for the europeans here.

As far as fastfood is concerned, I like Arby's. I can get four roastbeef sandwiches (which are pretty good) for $5 dollars. I never eat at the McDonald's nearby.. besides they don't accept visa... just cash.. and I almost never have cash on me. McDonald's is just downright nasty.. I had food poisoning last time I ate there. Wendy's is pretty good and so is Jack in the Box (I think they are a West Coast US thing.. dunno if they are on the east coast). But as far as anything is concerned, I can get a full meal and drink at a chinese restaurant for the price of fastfood... unless we are talking about the dollar menu. I like the dollar menu most at Jack in the Box. I typically get several chicken sandwiches... that is if I'm in a hurry though. Burger King isn't all that bad either.

I loved Mcdonalds, but everyonce in a while they would dish up some real nasty junk. I only ever ordered one of their double quarterponder things, it was just dripping with grease when you held it up in the box. took a bite and binned it..... Or that time I felt something crunch when the big tasty offer was on...urgghh...put me off for at least a week

it only put you off for a week? That would put me off for a lifetime.

I used to love double quarter pounders with cheese. When I lived on a navy base, McDonald's was the only thing to eat (aside from mess deck food- and they only served during certain hours). We had a Mickey D's right accross from the pier our carrier was always parked at.

OzzyKP, yeah and the meals are smaller too. The same meals are smaller. When you supersize here, you get the large in there. And you can NEVER EVER refill your drinks.. it was a whole new experience there.. but it is never to be done in here. In fact, you can't, they won't, if you ask you're a jackass.

For fast food of that caliber, it's simply too much. Me, living with appx. 60 euros a month or little more, it's totally UNDOABLE, even if I wanted to. Fortuantely I don't want to. Even if I had million dollars, I'd still consider their price too high for the quality food I get in return. I'd much rather spend a nice 20 or 30 dollars for a real meal that is made for me, than spend almost 10 bucks on a damn burger meal that isn't even that good.

yikes! 10 bucks!

Has anybody explained why fast food is so damn expensive over there? Even at a pricier fast food place like Chipotle I could get two full meals for 10 bucks.

You can refill in the Netherlands.

And here a full McD meal is 'only' about €5 here.

More conformation Finland is evil

Of course, it doesn't come close to beating the local Turkish/Italian/Chinese/etc joint.

As fastfood, it's pretty much non-existant. As regular cuisine, there are a few restaurants (but mostly in the western part of the country, I only know of one in a 30 mile radius from where I live). Not nearly as popular as Eurasian cuisines.

Mostly an unwillingness (for whatever reason) to invest here, I reckon. You only see McD and BK in almost every city (and even BK only recently, they're still miles behind McD), most other American chains just don't have any outlets here, or only a few in the biggest cities.

Taco Bell is definitely good fast food. Cheaper than almost anywhere, and better than the largest chains (McDonald's, Burger King, etc.)

Before BK came here in 2000, we only had McD. And while IMO BK has the better burgers and fries (especially fries), McD has more variety and regularly changing Burger of the week, which makes it more attractive.

And BK is miles away from catching up with McD. E.g.: BK has 20 restaurants in Austria, McD has 162.
And McD is much more integrated as they have been around since 1977.

Other than those two, I know of no international fast food chain here.

Yeah tacos were invented in the US, like fortune cookies and egg rolls, I believe.

Mexican food.. if it is authentic and real, is pretty good. But yeah, I do look down on the tex-mex crap.

Tacos weren't invented in the US. The tacos you see in the states just aren't authentic mexican tacos (which are stuffed and deep fried tortillas).

I was going to eat mcdonald's but then asked myself, why would I eat that crap when I can get chinese for $4.25 at the local chinese restaurant- this is the lunch special price only though. And they serve soup and wontons, and hot tea (and cookie). And because I'm a not big eater, I can take some home and make another meal out of it.

edit: I forgot to add the word not in there.

The cheapest McDonald's I've ever seen was in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. The trios (Big Mac, freedom fries and Coke) were selling for less than 3 euros.
