	Teleporting Captured Artifacts. Tired of ads?

I just captured an Alien Artifact after killing the garrision of an AI Base at 54,52 on a Large Map. Instead of the conquering unit, which was a 70% damaged Recon Rover, having it appear in the same square, it teleported over several of my bases and units to square 61,19 where I have dual formers terriforming. I've never had this happen before, I am running the most recent version of SMAC. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've seen this happen before, though not much (as I don't capture many artifacts), and I've never characterized the behavior.

Yea, the captured artifact behavior is really sketchy.

Often the artifact is also just destroyed instead of captured, in my experience.

I've seen this too. About 1\3 of the time it disappears and and about 2\3 of the time it was transported to my 2nd closest base. This is all based an numerous experimental replays of the same turn.

I've had this happen frequently - most often when attacking with noodles or copters. It seems pretty random as to where the artifact actually goes - I've had them end up on the other side of Planet before now. Still, at least in my games they always seem to appear in a base when teleporting, instead of just turning up forlorn in the middle of a patch of fungus or something :/
