Book Reading Deals Got spare money?

Here's a good idea. Have you ever recommended a book to a polytubby becuase you thought that they could learn something from it? Do you think they actually read it? Probably not, right? So here's your chance to use your power to negotiate to get them to. You can agree to read a book (or maybe more than one) in exchange for getting them to read one or more. There are no rules except you have to read the books that you agree to. You can negotiate to get more than one polytubby to read the book also. Whatever. It's a free market.

I would like some people here to read Candide by Voltaire. It's a short bood so don't expect much in return.

edit: In fact it's on the internet.

I volunteer to read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand (or something by Milton Friedman) if Giancarlo or any of Polys other right wing trolls reads Howard Zinns "A peoples history of the United States"

People's History of the US

That's a big one though. Is Atlas Shrugged big? Milton Friedman's work is small of course.

I would read Free to Choose by Friedman in exchange for the right person reading Candide by Voltaire. I have Free to Choose at home actually. Some one gave it to me, but I have so little respect for Freedman that I never read it.

You'll be sooOOooooOOooooooorry. "Altas Shrugged" is the biggest pile of manure I've ever come across. Ayn Rand can't even make A = A. Go with Milton Friedman instead...his plot has to be more believable and his characters more realistic.

Why... I read most of that liberal/socialistic crap when I was young and had different political leanings than I have now... no need to reread any of it.

I´ve studied economic history and political science, so I´ve read a lot of right wing crap that I wouldn´t want to reread. But that´s not the point of this thread is it?
