What is your favorite source for academic articles? (Recommend me new ones) Remove this text

Mine is jstor.org hands down. Although what blows about it is the PDFs are not searchable. So far I haven't been able to find anything to convert them... but still, their selection is unbeatable. They must have many hundreds of journals in their database.

I use a couple of other ones like Wilsonweb, but they pale in comparison with JSTOR. So which ones do you use for finding academic journal articles, if any? I'd love to hear of a great one I hadn't tried before... maybe my University offers a subscription.

Feel free to partake in what could quite possibly turn into the most boring thread ever

(*waits for thread to die...*)

Depends what I'm looking for.

The ACM has a massive library that's quite useful, IBM has a huge intranet library, and I also use Google Scholar.

Well the only ones useful for me and my studies are ones which have ANTH/PSYCH/SOC/HIST/REL articles. But really I'm just interested in what other people use, and if anyone uses JSTOR as well.

I've heard that too... I haven't really been able to put it to good use yet though.

The problem I find is that people who write research papers are generally far from good writers. They are so dry and difficult that I found the contents of them impossible to stick to my mind...

Dont want the bastards with deep pockets and myriads of panting post-docs to steal the ideas before they're totally ready for consumption. Science is a cut throat business.

That's because they are all writen to supply the bare bones information for specialists in the field. That's why there are scientists and writers who popularise science. Of course, the two groups can overlap

I haven't had too much difficulty, generally, in reading scientific papers. There was one where I simply had no ****ing clue what they were saying, but the rest are pretty easy to follow.
