Okay, this is going to be our Welcome Thread. Please post as you join the team and say hi to everyone else Mostly for folks who join us later and don't know anyone or the history of this team.

I'm Snoopy369, the initial Team Captain, which means nothing other than i'm the guy who had too much time on his hands at the beginning And I get cool mod powers, or at least the ability to control who's on the team. I also initiated the game as a whole, although a whole lot of people have done a lot to get this team going...

I wasn't originally intending to join this democracy game as I've been a part of four other multi-team democracy games including the team captain of one for a year and a half and the pseudo-captain of another for about six months. But snoop asked me to join and I decided to help and give my two cents when asked, and maybe a little more.

BTW, my favorite musical group is the Beach Boys not ABBA.

U2 is definitely up there, but I grew up listening to the Beach Boys. I am a California guy after all (though I've never surfed in my life ).

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't been able to contribute as yet. My job has me run ragged at the moment - I'm managing an aspect of a large scale construction project and we are going through a critical time right now. The result is that I have to work long hours and don't have much time for civ - I'm barely able to keep my regular PBEM's ticking along.

However I am still very interested in participating, but will need a few more weeks before things at work return to normal.

Back again chaps!

I'm now able to contribute on a more regular basis, and are able help out where needed.

I spent some time this weekend reading over this forum (admittedly some parts very quickly) so are mostly up to speed with the current issues and the dynamics between us and other teams.

I have not seen the actual game yet, perhaps someone could send me the latest save? andydog xx gmail xx com

In the meantime some initial observations:

1. BOH

Well done on forming a tech alliance with these guys. I would recommend that this relationship is very carefully managed so we can extend our alliance at some point to beyond just tech trading. It appears from the screenshots that both ourselves and them are pretty much in the centre of the map, us west them east. Being in the center of a pangea surrounded by human players is always nerve-wracking. I would expect that at some point either them or us will be approached by someone with some sort of military alliance proposal to help wipe out the other. Therefore if we propose future boarder arrangements with BOH and some sort of non-aggression act, we can avoid this scenario and use each other to gain more territory away from each other, if that makes any sense!

2. DR

I've dealt with Moonbars and Aqualung before and they can be pretty shifty! I know for a fact that Moonbars has no qualms about breaking agreements. Haven't had much to do with Aqualung but in another game he is taking the piss. I agree with snoopy that we hit them NOW, before their immortals, and will write more about that in the related thread.

3. Naval Exploration

When are we planning to settle a sea city? I would recommend that we get a curragh or two making their merry way around the landmass asap. I've found that this type of exploration avoids "you can't explore here" type issues but still gives you general knowledge of the lay of the land. We might even find an island with a resource or two.
