Mission Civ Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Any body ever play mission risk? it's a shortened version of the game in which Each player draws a card, and that player's victory condition is on his card. One might have the objective of owning North America and Australia. Another to conquer a player of a given color. Another to own 24 territories. etc.

Perhaps we could try something similar with Civ. The tricky part would be to randomly select objectives in a verifyable manner.

Some possible objectives:

First player to take a capital

first player to own 24 cities

first player to build 7 wonders.

First player to 40 techs

first player to 5000 gold

just some ideas. it would be good if we could standardise about 12 of these.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

pretty cool idea. But it'll probably take several tests before we can figure out what the evenest "mission" would be.

I like the idea. Anything that can declare a winner in a large game without having to spend weeks and weeks playing is a good idea.
I like the idea of capturing 3 of the initial 5-6 cities of an opposing player. Reaching a certain city number or gold level seem to be easier objective. But still fun to try.

I've played mission risk and it seems like a cool idea.

Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Interesting concept Matthew. I think you have a good one here. I've played WAY TOO MANY one nite games where the best your are going to do is get to AD if you are lucky, never to continue the game again.

An objective based game would be nice!

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Sounds like a good idea to me too. But how would you distribute the missions? Wouldn't you need a neutral party?

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Either that or some clever soul could write a program to do it over the internet. perhaps even a pathc for the game itself.
